The Magic Box (scroll down a bit) has a list of the developers displaying their games at the Tokyo Game Show, including a list of the games being exhibited for the developers that included a list. Among them is Sakura Taisen 5, which we haven't had an update on since thirteen months ago. Sonic Heroes, Altered Beast, Shadow Hearts, and a bunch of other great games are also listed, as well as an appearance by SNK Playmore.

This was originally a longer post, but the BBS ate it and I'm not willing to type it all out again. I think it hates my proxy. :(

Just saw the movie a few days ago when it was playing locally and it seems to me like it was a nicely animated excuse to introduce their new character. I hope there's some news soon on the "action" version that supposed to get released stateside.

Watch them just show the logo for ST5 and that's it. I think they'll pimp ST5 action more since it's supposed to come out first.

I personally want to see another hanagumi columns game, but I know I'm crazy.

Why would ST5 Action come out first? You can't have a spin-off game withot introducing people to the characters in their normal habitat first...

I thought it was announced that it was coming out first, but maybe I just misread.

Sakura Taisen 5 is coming out first in Japan, then Sakura Taisen 5 Action will come out some time shortly after it (a few months, I'm guessing). However, according to the plan for the North American release that was announced last July, a plan that I'm REALLY hoping has changed, Sakura Taisen 5 Action will be released first in North America, and then, if it sells well, Sakura Taisen 5 will be released in North America.

The problems inherent in a "you can't have dessert until you eat all your vegetables" release strategy are apparently obvious only to people that don't work for Sega. This may be caused by the legendary Sega "Cone of Stupidity", an add-on for the Sega Genesis that was never publically released (but is widely used within the company) and can only be hooked to the system through the 32X cartridge slot. There are, however, rumors that it may also be compatible with the Nomad.

Hmmm....

*long pause*

How can I be so sure of this? As much as I want to see a Sakura Taisen V come here, I bet that one, Sega will pull back and not release the game here at all and two, even if they do, it's most likely that the game won't get proper treatment. Adding on, you have to remember issues like the seiyuu if you plan on releasing the game here. That's why Konami has never brought a single Tokimemo game to North America.

Tokimemo is a straight up datesim though isn't it? Whatever it is, it sells better than most games that are released in both US and Japan so they really don't need to.

ST5 is going to take a ton of effort to localize, effort that would probably go to waste since I don't imagine it selling well at all in the US. Some anime fans will buy it, but a number of those are likely to be turned off by it's low impact style of gameplay. ST5 action would be a good way of easing someone into ST games so it makes sense to me on all levels.

Though with Sega you never know. They have a track record of throwing away money.

I swear that the CEO of Sega is a Magic 8 ball and the just change human CEOs around to fool us. Some of their business decisions are so odd that I can't imagine a real person making them.
