New game, TV animation... holy crap, I'm a happy boy. Now, if only I can find that SDCC/WizardWorld exclusive Beyond the Grave figure at Otakon somehow, I'll be the happiest boy ever.

Is an exploding head good or bad? :)

Anyway, for those who don't know, Madhouse Production has produced tons of anime.
I'm not sure how accurate the following info is from anime.nfo, but here it is anyway:

Madhouse Production's works

I'm not sure if this is on the site or not, since I can't seem to get into it right now, but Magic Box has some pictures that I didn't notice earlier, specifically the logo and a cool promotional shot of the main characters. One of them is a carbon copy of Vash the Stampede. Same clothes, same hair, possibly even the same glasses. Similar design or an actual cameo, since the designs are by Yasuhiro Nightow? Who knows. Anyway, he's got a wicked sword-guitar.

And I'm surprised to see so many positive views on Gungrave. I didn't rent it because the reviews were less than stellar. And by "less than stellar", I mean "ass". Is it really that great?

Gameplay wise.. well, Its repetitive. But for anyone who is a sucker for Yasuhiro Nightow's works wouldnt be bothered with the details. Get it if you love Nightow's stuff.

Indeed. Stylistically, the game is amazingly cool. Hopefully the sequel will add more variety in the game play.

Eh, it's an enjoyable game, though far from great. Definitely worth a rental, but now that I own it I never play it.

The game is awesomely clunky, and while it may not be immediately apparent, Grave is almost goddly powerful. So you can just sort of lumber around shooting everyone and whipping your coffin at them.

People who like that sort of thing (me) will enjoy the game, but it certainly isn't a great game.

Gungrave is one of those games that only does one thing but does it well. If you enjoy the idea of having Grave lumber around trying to get the highest combo possible that also ranks high on the style meter then this is the game for you. It's sort of the same catagory that Ikaruga falls into.

Gungrave is ok... I think Grave is too slow moving and there isn't enough variety in available tactics. It was fun enough for a few playthroughs though. 3DCG cutscenes are also enjoyable and stylish. I don't really recommend it unless it's as a rental or really cheap purchase.

It definately had potential though. I look forward to both the TV series and sequel.
