Spoiler (Highlight to view) - Hmmmm... y'know, on the one hand, this is a really stupid idea. A dumbass idea, even. Bringing back characters that died decades ago is usually a stupid idea that violates the integrity of the past story and is an insult to the previous writer, but in this instance, it violates the integrity of the story and is an insult to the fans, who technically wrote the story.
On the other hand, however, an evil Robin who isn't from an alternate universe, or a Bizarro world, or the future, or some other crap that doesn't fit into the sort of Batman stories I grew up with is a cool idea. The fact that they have a history together and that both Robin and Batman would have strong emotions about the matter is even better, and that could give Jason Todd the potential to be a really great villain.
End of Spoiler
Too bad I'm too afraid of huge mega-crossovers and other such crap to read DC or Marvel any more.

quote: Jim Lee's run on Batman just keeps getting better and better! Almost every major Bat-villian except Penguin has been trying to take out Batman... Huntress, Nightwing, Robin, and even Supes are in it... this is really one of the most amazing runs on Batman ever. When it seemed it couldn't possibly get better...
I happen to be on the flip side of opinions of the series thus far. I've kinda dug the art on the series, but the story has just left me cold. The twist ending we just got in the latest issue just made me roll my eyes. When a friend sent me the final page two weeks ago, I hoped it was a joke, a fake fan pic.
D'oh! Instead I got a twist that I thought was bit unfair. A big part of the series was the guessing game rallying around who is the main villian of Hush. The clues given were supposed to lead you to pick who this was from the large rouge's gallery of Batman. Issues were spent systematically ripping down each suspect, only to have it be someone that logic ( Real world logic, as opposed to comic book logic that most readers may not use ) would not lead you to choose.
I think the series has been cool from an artistic standpoint, but the story has been a let down compared to it. The first issue itself was unnecessary just to stretch out the series. I myself am looking forward to the creators of 100 Bullets taking over next. I know they won't get the numbers Hush did, but perhaps I'll get the gritty urban story I've always wanted to see Batman in. I can only hope.
On the other hand, Jim Lee on Superman next could be very cool. Hopefully this time the story will keep up with the art.

meh, mebbe I've read one too many comic books in my day, but the ending of 617, while not at all what I would have wanted, seemed to make sense. I mean, it's not like there have been that many high profile deaths in the bat-universe (to go along with ra's whole 'blah! someone is coming back -- FROM THE GRAAAAAVE!!' thing) and some schmuck like Joe Chill coming back would have . . . hmm, bringing Joe Chill back from the dead . . . but no, that's just dumb. Also, at least on paper, ol' Jason Todd makes a pretty good foil: One of Bat"control freak"man's greatest failings, trained by the man himself, yadda yadda; problem is, in the universe that exists now, batman has been built up to the point where if their mano-a-mano lasts for more than, say, 2 pannels (pannel 1 = batman punching Jason, pannel 2 = Jason lying on ground unconcious and/or dead) it's gonna be pretty hard to take seriously. Meh, anyway, it's not like Robin 2's corpse just sort of dumped intself into a lazarus pit, so there's still that little mystery, and I'm curious as to where the whole 'Harvey Dent is back' thing is gonna go. Man, Loeb just love two-face.
