The evil summer semester has ended, so I can finally focus my energies on the important stuff. 
With that said, I would like to officially and cordially invite everyone on the board over for a schwingin' shindig. You know the drill: drink a few beers (or non-alcoholic beverages for you underage folk), play a few games, match faces with names... good time had by all, no? So first... here's the specs:
Date: Saturday, August 16th.
Time: You can show up whenever, but I'll have everything set up by 2pm. I'd imagine it will probably end in the wee hours of the morning. :)
Place: Northern Virginia (Check the bottom for specifics)
Games (I'll edit these lists as I think of stuff):
- 3 TVs
- 2 DCs
- 2 PS2s
- 1 GC
- 1 Xbox (collecting dust)
- 1 Saturn
- DC: KoF '98-2k2, Last Blade 2, Garou, MvC2, CvS2, Alpha 3, Third Strike, MvC1, CvS1, Puyo Puyo~n, Ikaruga, Soul Calibur, Super SF2 Turbo
- PS2: GGXX, Tekken Tag, Tekken 4, VF4:Evo, Puzzle Fighter, DDRMax
- GC: F-Zero
- Saturn: XSF, MSF, Vampire Savior, Saturn Bomberman
Things people may want to bring:
- Soul Calibur II (preferably on GC since it's the easiest to play imports on)
- Saturn sticks/pads (for 8-player Saturn Bomberman.. I only have 3)
- Sticks/pads (while I have 2+ controllers for every system, people will wanna use their own stuff... especially sticks for fighting games)
- DDR mats (I only have one that works with any consistency..)
- A Neo or 2 (I've unfortunately had to sell my Neo cart system, so the party will be without one otherwise)
- Anything else you think may amuse a large group
Quick FAQ:
1) Q: Can I bring friends?
A: Yes, you may, but try to keep it to 3 or less. In addition, keep in mind that my friends and I aren't gonna put up with any shit. This is a good-natured get-together and we plan on keeping it that way.
2) Q: If I get tired/wasted, will there be places to sleep?
A: Yes, plenty. I'm gonna have at least 4 extra beds set up for people to crash in and another couple of sleeping bags. Worst case scenario, you guys can bring your own sleeping bags... either way, there will be plenty of room for people to crash.
3) Q: How about food/drinks?
A: There will be PLENTY of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages. As for food, I was seriously considering making reservations at a local tepenyaki restaurant and we could all go out to eat. The only problem there is that it would be somewhat expensive (~$20 per person), so I don't know if everyone will be down with that. Otherwise, we could just get pizza or fast food or somethin' simple.

Sounds interesting (and is much closer than other "MMCafe Meetings" I've heard of)....... but I'm not sure if I can make it to this one either. I don't know... maybe a possibility, though.

General Update:
1) I will be out of town for the next few days, so don't be surprised when I don't answer e-mails, don't show up on IM, and don't spam this thread. ;)
2) We may have a couple of interesting surprises for the party. Don't wanna spoil the fun, so I'll leave it at that.
Zyzyfer: Well, assuming all goes well, I plan on doing this again sometime.
Oroch: If you decide to come, feel free to bring whatever you want. Don't know how much luck you'll have with a OMF2097 tournament, though. :)
EDIT: Thought of something else... if anyone has halfway decent video-capture equipment, PLEASE bring it. I was thinking we could make some vids of our horrible playing ability and share it with the world. (provided we can find a host) I'll definitely have my digital camera and video camera in effect, though, to catch any and all embarassing moments.

Alrighty, folks... I got a quick break from my weekend getaway, so I'm gonna post a quick list of things I'd like people to bring (Please respond on the thread so people can figure out who's bringing what):
1) Saturn pads/sticks (as many as possible... I'm trying to get some 8-player Saturn Bomberman goin' on)
2) Soul Calibur II (GC if possible, but any system is fine provided that you also bring the system with which to play it...)
3) Video-capture equipment (yes, it's unlikely I'll have much luck here, but I'm gonna put it out there again just in case)

Hmmm if someone has something that could split RCA input (so one goes to the tv and one to my PC) I could bring a small computer I have set up to capture movies. It'd be a last ditch solution but I'm willing to do it.
Also put me down for one Saturn pad.
EDIT: If we go with my PC and the spliter I have one RCA extension cable so we'd need another one of those too.
And also what's Tepenyaki?

Radish, if you bring the NGP link cable, I'll gladly play you and trade cards... I still need Alex, Tabasa, and Chizuru; Chizuru and Tabasa can only be obtained through "vs" play, so maybe I'll finally get them. Teppanyaki is meat cooked on a teppan, it's a sort of griddle.
Oroch, yeah, I'll be bringing both hyper Samurai games, and a lot of other stuff...

Alrighty, folks... just 3 days remain. Anyone who plans on attending needs to contact me ASAP for directions and what not.
A couple of quick notes:
1) If anyone has any issues/problems at the party, please let me know and I'll do what I can to help. Obviously, there will be some things out of my control, but I don't want anyone to not enjoy themselves because of something minor that could have been fixed.
2) Due to the limited amount of time/space, not everything people are going to want to play will get played. We simply have too many diverse interests. However, I will do what I can to make sure all of the major stuff gets some time (and by major stuff, I mean things we all tend to like/discuss on the board... 2D fighting games, party games, puzzle games, shooters, etc.).
3) I know I probably don't need to tell most of you this because you're all decent human beings wise in the ways of ethics and common sense, but PLEASE be respectful of the house. It isn't mine and if I ever wanna use it again for another get-together, things simply can't be destroyed/stolen.
As always, feel free to ask questions, make suggestions, etc. on this thread or track me down on AIM/E-mail.

Sigh. I'm not going to be able to make it down.
I always knew one of my friends wouldn't be able to make it, he even knew that last weekend, so that's a non-factor. And he's reading this right now, and I'm 100% sure of it, so GET A DAMN ACCOUNT, BOY! Ha.
Anyway, another friend was possibly able to go, but I'm just not going to be able to make it myself. I've got too much left to do here before I leave for college. I just narrowly escaped jury duty, at least...
I wish I could make it down, but hell, maybe next summer there'll be another gathering! And, on the upside, at least my travel money goes to that reasonably priced NG home system I've been wanting to buy...
