Edit: better phrasing

Hmm... Character designer still remains the same...
But music composer is different now, gah!

OMG, you're right! I didn't even bother checking last night. This is definately not good news... I wonder why Mistuda isn't doing it? Can anyone read the new composer's name? I'm having trouble reading it since it's a low-res picture.
Not the way I wanted to start my Friday...

It's Yuki Kajiura, the composer for .hack//SIGN, Noir, Blood: The Last Vampire, and the Aquarian Age anime. Sounds good to me. :)

Ah, thanks for the help. Actually, I'm not really familiar with either him or any of those anime, so I don't know what his stuff sounds like... Anyone else have any opinions on his work?

The .hack//sign and Noir soundtracks, as well as the Boogiepop Phantom soundtrack have struck a good note within me. I'm not saying that I enjoy his work more than Mitsuda's, but rather that it's very enjoyable, and seems to set a good pace in the anime that I've seen featuring it (yes, even the admittedly slow .hack//sign). I think that the real issue here is not which composer does the score, as both are very accomplished (Mitsuda being arguably moreso). Instead, I feel attention should be directed toward the amount of in-game music - if anyone remembers, Xenosaga Ep. I was very aurally sparse in many sections. The sound of footsteps alone isn't always the best way to go. Kajura is a good choice, mang.

Kajiura Yuki is a woman.
She didn't work on the Boogiepop Phantom soundtrack, but instead worked on the "Boogiepop and Others" album which is music "inspired by Boogiepop Phantom and others".. I don't think any of the music on this album with the exception of the song by Wagner appears in the series.
In addition to game (None which have been previously released outside of Japan) and animation soundtracks, she runs the JPOP group See-Saw with vocalist Chiaki Ishikawa.
Recently she released a "Solo Album" of her works called Fiction in the US.
She is an excellent composer, so I look forward to hearing what she does with Xenosaga.
Wow... actually MOMO looks ok ... I'm happy. She looked quite scary in those other earlier pictures.
I like the side by side comparison of the old and new versions. I believe they are doing this because they are trying to compete with Final Fantasy though. I wouldn't have minded keeping the old designs, but so far the new ones are looking pretty decent!

Yeah, I'm adjusting to the new designs rather quickly as well. They don't look as bad to me now as they first did. There's a summary of the event in English at Zenosaga.com, just in case those of you who care haven't stopped by there yet.

MOMO obviously cannot do her mahou shoujo gig anymore without looking like an idiot.
Though, she actually looks more suitable now for some of those more serious scenes previewed in the old xenosaga trailers.
