I use a trick with Media Player 6.4, which should also be on your computer, on \Program Files\Windows Media Player\MPLAYER2.EXE.
- Go to View/Options/Player/Open options, and make sure a new player is opened for each media file.
- Open a first random movie file. Don't close it.
- While the first file is open, open the second movie file: the movie from which you want to take screenshots.
- Get to the frame you want, and PrintScreen it!
- Paste to your program of choice. I recommend using IrfanView (freeware, spam-free) first for cropping.
It has to do something with the video file being sent directly from the video card to the monitor (or something like that -- someone correct me if I've got the details wrong), which is why PrntScrn doesn't work. The video card can only do that for one movie file at a time, though, which is why PrntScrn works for other movie files opened while that first movie file is open.
