Well, if Rock's mother is still alive, maybe Geese is, too :P Not like SNK hasn't retroactively revived bosses before. Both Geese and Krauser were supposed to be dead then came back to life, after all (Geese did it twice!). Oh, and Krizalid, too.
Oh, was Krauser supposed to have died? I didn't know that for sure, I know he did in the anime. But as for Geese being in non-crossover fighters, he was in KoF EX Neoblood. He he he.

It was stated after Fatal Fury 2 that Krauser was said to have committed suicide. I'm not sure if SNK ever said directly beyond that that he died, but I'm pretty sure they meant for him to be dead. Why?
In an interview with the director of the Fatal Fury anime, the director said that he loved the anime version of Krauser so much that he was going to have Krauser live at the end of the anime. But SNK pretty much FORCED him to have Krauser die, saying that he had to because then it'd like, deviate from the fighting game storyline too much or something like that. So I'm pretty sure that Krauser was meant to be dead after FF2. Course, then later on, SNK brought Krauser back for KOF 96 ^_~

Where was it stated? I don't remember it being in the ending of FF2 and I don't remember him dying other than in the anime. As for SNK forcing them not keep him alive because it'd deviate from the game story, the anime's already deviated plenty before that so it shouldn't have mattered.

quote: Grumble... he didn't even die in the game, he faked his suicide to draw Geese out in to the open or something equally nonsensical. Fatal Fury Special and Fatal Fury 2 are essentially the same game, one is just more "complete" story-line wise.
What was the release date of Fatal Fury Special? I imagine that was to explain the suicide statements after Fatal Fury 2 or something. Would be a perfect opportunity for SNK to either ret-con or explain away something they've decided to take back on. But at least this confirms the suicide thing isn't completely made up.
As for when it was stated in Fatal Fury 2, honestly, I'm not sure. I got that from people that know a lot more about SNK storylines than I do. But the whole interview thing is correct. As for why SNK would insist on it not deviating from their canon so much, I don't know, but that's what the director of the anime supposedly said.
Well, from playing Fatal Fury 2, it was never stated in that game that Krauser died or committed suicide. I'd have to play through Special again but I thought Special was just a dreammatch and not really canon, but I guess I'm wrong. Where did you hear the information though? Just word of mouth? I'm just curious.

I was always told that Special was a retelling of... er, one of the Fatal Furies, though I recall it being Fatal Fury one, not two. My memory's probably off there since it's really foggy regarding that, though. Two would probably make more sense.
I got the information from Lantis and a few others at the SNK storyline thread at SRK, if I recall correctly. I'd try to find the exact page but those threads get pretty big over there and usually span 15 pages+, so backtracking there is a little difficult.
I suppose I unfortunately don't know how much to trust the SNK story gurus of SRK. I have 100% trust in my SF plot sources and friends but when it comes to SNK for me, things get a lot murkier in many regards.

The tight, seamless narrative that some SNK fans claim runs throughout the SNK games and what actually shows up in SNK games often seem to be two seperate things. If you find a good source for SNK story descriptions that isn't overly embellished let me know.

Heh. I know what you mean. I try to be careful when talking about this stuff because I know a lot of people take certain things as canon that just are not so. However, if someone gets me screens to show me Krauser died in FF2, let me know, but I am pretty sure those of us in the know know that Krauser actually lives in a pineapple under the sea.
