"Upcoming "Best of the Best" fighting poll" , posted Tue 8 Jul 22:12

I'm planning on doing a big poll with many fighting categories such as "Best hero", "Cheapest boss", and "Most underappreciated fighting game". I'm looking for category suggestions. I'm also looking for a few nominees here and there. All nominees will be my final decision with a max of 10 per category (most I've already picked). I will put an "Other" option in case you want to vote for someone not listed.

You might be a nerd if:
You noticed that two of Lilo's books have the spine on the wrong side. And you were watching the Spanish version when this occurred...

Nominee for the cheapest boss: Kanna from Eternal Fighter Zero: Blue Sky Edition.

Forget Shin Gouki and God Rugal. Forget Gill. Forget Omega Rugal. Forget Mr. Karate. Forget A3 Shin Vega. Forget EX I-no. This boss is cheap not only because she got damn good moves, but because she knows how to use them. Jump on her, she starts an antiair combo. You jump out of the juggle, she will combo again. You stay away, she will missile you to death. You stay close, she will combo you to death. I still cannot finish the damn game. The closest thing I have been to find a pattern is that she seems to be rather easy to grab. But mess a grab and prepare to lose 25% of your life and get rushed down to death.

And her supers rule.

Dumbest Rivalry/Hate Relationship. (Ryo/Mr. Karate)

Alot to take into consideration. Keep the nominations coming!

-2d and 3D games will probably be combined in most categories. I might ditch 3D entirely and do a sepreate poll--if I have the energy.

-English names will be used

-At this time, I won't put any doujin fighters in any categories UNLESS there is a very heavy demand. I personally haven't played any at this time. And remember, I'll leave a write-in option.

-I'm going to try to make each of the categories unique. ex. No "Cutest female" AND "Sexiest female" categories, just some sort of fusion. Yes, there is a difference between "cute" and "sexy". I for one sometimes auto assume stuff against a "sexy" type (before I start a flamewar, just go look at one of my older sigs to catch my mindset...) Besides, that's just asking for someone to be left out.

-I have a feeling that I may have to break that rule out a max of 10...

-If I purposely leave out an "obvious" choice, I will attempt to explain.

i think you should have a poll on whether people like compilation/tournament style fighters, or standalone fighters.

in my definition, compilation or tournament style fighters have a lot of characters, no real story, usually have no separate BGs or endings for each character, and usually have characters from other games or past games, and is kinda just an excuse to get a bunch of characters together to fight (examples: KoF, CvS 1 and 2, SvC, VS series, Tekken Tag)

a standalone fighter has mostly original characters (not counting returning ones in sequels), separate backgrounds and storylines/endings for each character, and can sometimes have a little story or extras, like good presentation, lots of art, or more modes. (examples: street fighter 2/3/alpha1/2, Last blade, Garou, GGX/X, soul calibur)

i think it would be an interesting poll. And its been a few years since capcom or snk has made a standalone fighter.
