Hey, I don't know if anyone at the cafe plays DDR, but I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a nice Playstation 2 compatable DDR Pad.

I went to E3 in 2002 and I saw this chinese company that made some really nice soft and hard pads. I am willing to spend 200 dollars on this thing, as that's the price I remember seeing on the pads at E3. The 40 dollar pads are horrible and trying to do any song higher than five feet proves impossible for me.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or any experience with these things. I'm tired of plunking down money in the arcade when I could be playing at home for cheaper. Also need to get rid of that belly =)

Red Octane makes good pads... I have one of their old soft ones and it's better than the tiny US 3rd party pads, and even the official Konami one... but it slides too much. Their new ones are fantastic, I hear, and they did sell metal pads, but they appear to be sold out. They aren't the only ones around with good pads, though. Maybe someone else can link you to some other options...

Yea... I've just finished reading a few reviews for Red Octane's Ignition 2.0, the one with the heavy foam insert. I'm thinking about getting that one but if it slides a lot I might not.

The reviews I've read say that they can do 9 foot songs on it no problem, and that's what I'm after =)

Unfortunately those are the only ones I'm seeing on the market, but they're only 99 bucks, so I might go get one unless someone knows a better deal. =)

Edit:
This deal looks good too? Should I get it ? Should I ? =P

wait wait wait hold on a minute there

for a long time I've been wanting to get the DC DDR game and a pair of DC DDR pads so my question is...

1. Is the DC DDR game any good?
2. Are the $40-60 DC DDR pads of good quality?

I have -never- played any DDR game. But I like party games, so this is a must buy IMO.

3. Am I just better off buying a cheap PSone and PS DDR game and pads? (YUCK!)

4. Any good sites to buy this stuff? Only place I've looked is ebay and they seem all right.

Thanks all for your wisdom- again.

DC DDR games are few and far inbetween. You'd be best getting a PS2 if you wanna play DDR, future mixes will come out on PS2 and also DC pads are rare...

If you're serious about DDR, get a PS1, or even a PS2. Yuck all you want about it, but the accessories and games just aren't there for DC. You can get a controller converter for a PS pad, but you won't get any of the new mixes. It won't keep you happy for long, heh heh.

edit: I just told you to buy two PS2s. Oops.

There are two DC DDR games. One is 2nd Remix with a lot of 1st songs thrown in. The other one (Party Edition or something) didn't have any songs that I were interested in.

However, you should go with the PS2 games. That way you'll still get new releases and you can play all the old ones as well (if it's import enabled).

I have owned the offical Konami pad for the DC since March 2000 and i must say eventhough it has taken quite a beating it still hangs in there. Much better than any second party pad I have played on, most being VERY slippery. I am able to do 8 foot songs easily, but I am still bad at 9 footers so I can't measure its ability to go through dynamite Rave or Afronova maniac. I love second mix it is the only DDR game I ever wanted on the console because my PSX sucks, (I need a new one with a mod chip) and I don't know of any good mod chips for the PS2 so I can get a JPN version of DDR.

Don't make me angry you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
