Hello. Please post your thoughts on anime expo.

So far they, the convention organizers, seem to be doing a much better job this year.

Anaheim seems to have a friendly atmosphere.

There seems to be more genuine interest among the fan base this year. They are a little melower for some reason...so far.

I hope this will turn out to be a good con. So far it's not bad.

The new large Anaheim Convention Center certainly has helped. It has a similar design to the San Diego Convention Center, and it is larger than the previous convention area in Anaheim.

I saw a few Kyos, a couple of Mais, a guy in an Andy Bogard costume, and a... Vanessa! oh yeah, and I saw a couple of Ralfs and Clarks, and probably some more! KOF!

Well I'll probably post more later. Good night!

Hey, another con goer!

I agree on the organizational thing. It is WAY better than my previous experience of AX '99 and what people has told me of previous years. The dealer's room is HUGE. Some things are overpriced, but some others are good deals. One has to scavenger a lot.

Panels are well organized, dunno about the masquerade, I just skipped it. The costume quality is very high. TONS of Chii's on any flavor you want. Some excellent Morrigan and Felicia, there is a decent SNK group as well as several GGXX groups. TONS of Naruto-related costumes, and as a very nice suprirse, more than one Tokyo Mew Mew group!

Console room sucks, but Arcade is great. Tonight I did a 25-win streak at CvS2 with my Chun Li/Morrigan/Nakoruru team. Been also doing some trips to little tokyo. Printed stuff is definitively at a better price overthere.

I am just writing this out of my head, so will cut it for now. But for now, the best AX I have heard about in years.

Little Tokyo is a great place for getting manga. Especially because all the stores are so easy to steal from.
Did I just type that?

I'm surprised how few of us went! (edit: actually it's not that surprising considering the last few years haven't been that good, this year was better in some technical aspects at least.)

Does anyone have access to a copy of the J-pop concert? I want to see it enough to trade for it if you'd like.

"Er... any photographic reports?" , posted Tue 8 Jul 22:36post reply

I stick to the local cons due to lack of funding. Normally, I'm able to keep up with what goes on in not-so-local anime cons with A Fan's View, but it seems that it doesn't have an AX report. (I'm wondering if the photographer was able to go...)

... so are there any sites up with photographic reports? I really would like to see what kinds of costumes were at the convention. Plus, there were friends of mine from the university anime club that were able to go...

I had a good time, panels were fun.. It was nice for me, since a good amount of the guests there had produced works I enjoyed. The guests had a good sense of humor, particularly ABe and Ueda.. I didn't get to go to Rikudo's panel :(. Kajiura's concert was great.

This was my second time going to AX, and Anaheim suits it much better. The exhibit hall's long line was only at the opening time, and moved quickly. Last year there was always a huge line to get in. It was also far more spacious this year. Connecting events in the hotels were also conveniently located.

I don't quite understand what you mean here?

I wish I could convince my friends to let me go to the arcade room to play some cvs. Since normally noone is really good at these cons, I usually get big win streaks when I do play. I guess I have settle with owning everyone at the "Play" mag booth.

I had fun this year, I sure we scared a quite of few cosplayers. And I got one's e-mail and she repiled. I got some art stuff, and I starved for 9 hours.

All in all it was one my best AX's. And it's nice to return to Animhem. I like the Hilton much more than Long Beach convention center. It's nice to be back there. Man, I been going to these things for to long. I think I started in 1998 or 99.

There was one or more concerts. I didn't go to them. I was wondering if anyone recorded them. I'm willing to trade if necessary in order to see a copy. I was interested partially because I saw a picture of one of the muscians playing the same type of keyboard I just bought.

Just curious. Were you the one who did a mid-screen Ganbit infinite on my Morrigan? I only played once at the Play booth (I think it was Saturday) and played a game of CvS2 with Chun Li/Morrigan/Nakoruru and a couple games of MvC1 with Chun Li/Morrigan.

Sorry, I was there on Friday. If I did play Marvel 1 I would probably use a scrub team, since I really never played MvC1 nearly as much as any of the other vs games. My main games are more traditional 3rd strike, CvS2, Alpha 3, Garou, but I'm rathe good at MvC2. I had to learn that one though since that's the game everyone plays.
