I'm bored, so I figured I'd dig in to the barrel and pull out all of the cliche threads to promote conversation.

Let's start with music. I know that there are some WIDELY varying tastes here (a good thing, to be sure). Soooo... what CD is in your car/computer/home stereo? Or if you're doing the Winamp thing, what's in your playlist?

I, myself, have Carlos Mencia's "Take a Joke America" in my car and Radiohead's "Hail to the Thief" in my computer.

Hey, no shame in that, man. I'm a huge Buffy fan and I loved the musical. Bought the soundtrack the first time I saw it was available.

My current favorite CD is the Blood Brothers - Burn Piano Island Burn. I recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like harder music or screaming. It's worth a listen. The Blood Brothers are slowly getting more and more popular, and that's a good thing. You can even find the CD in Best Buy, heh. They're amazing musicians, and I've never heard anyone scream like these guys. They sound like jungle cats. It's incredible stuff.

If you're looking for something to try to get a feel for it, try Fucking's Greatest Hits, or Ambulance vs. Ambulance, two of my favorite songs on the CD.

Other than that, I keep two White Stripes CDs in the car at all times. White Blood Cells and Elephant are both excellent. I keep Andrew WK's I Get Wet around, too. It's great fun, especially for summer nights. I have a ton of mix CDs I made in my car, too, and I'd post playlists if anyone cared. The one I've been listening to now and then recently is all of Chrono Trigger: Brink of Time, with a few extra tracks thrown in. Some AFI, some Misfits, the Smiths, plenty of good stuf.

Speaking of AFI, anyone heard their new CD yet? I'm wondering whether or not it's worth grabbing.

Morcheeba - Who Can You Trust? (listening right now actually)
Morcheeba - Charango
Digable Planets - Blowout Comb
Yoko Kanno - Macross Plus OST 1 and 2 (still need to find For Fans Only somewhere)
Yoko Kanno - GiTS: Standalone Complex OST
Audioslave - Audioslave
Micheal Jackson - Thriller (back from when he was black and sane)
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

Say, I really love the two Morcheeba albums I have (WCYT? and Big Calm). How is Charango anyway? I've always wanted to pick up the other Morcheeba albums but for some reason I got it into my head that they've gone on more of a hip-hop bend then their previous 'alternativey' trip-hip offerings (maybe it's the increase in guest musicians that lead me to this conclusion - dunno).

Is Charango comparable to WCYT or BC?? If it isn't what's it really like??

Between playing through Aria of Sarrow and all the news on Lament of Innocence, I've been on a bit of a Castlevania kick. As such I've been listening to the soundtracks for the Castlevania 1-3, Dracula X (thanks again Seiryu), Dracula Battle Perfect Selection 1, and Symphony of the Night. Some other stuff has made it's way in there too (Guilty Gear XX, and random Yasunori Mitsuda stuff), but the bulk of it has been Castlevania.

As far as non-game music goes, a friend of mine's band, The Dirty Politicians, finally put out their first CD. It's a short disc with most of the songs on it being more than 2 years old already, but what is there is really good.

In the car, I've been listening to Animositisomina by Ministry, old Rammstein CDs, The Sinister Urge by Rob Zombie, and other stuff. That, and a mixed CD of White Zombie stuff that is either from a soundtrack or on a hidden track (9 songs total).

So, there you go. My most recent music selection.

You guys will think I am such a dork. I don't acutally have a lot in my car because all I have is a tape player. (I was supposed to get a cheesy CD player but last minute my parents backed out of the deal- AFTER I HAD DONE MY PART- because my dad wanted a new car. Note: We are poor and he keeps buying CARS.) So I only have my two tapes that I love to death still.. Wallflowers and Alanis Morsett.... because I was raised on Bob Dylan and folk music. (Yay to my old parents.) I also have some Oasis CD's... (I blame that more on my dad's constant hitting me over the head with the Beatles when I was young and Oasis is just a wannabe. Ha ha ha.)

Ahhh.. yeah.. Imma dork. I have some anime stuff, all of which I downloaded and recorded on tapes, though. -_-; I'm that pathetic.

Dude, you can get a cheap CD player from Wal-Mart or something like that (as low as $20 last time I checked) and get one of those adapter kits with a cassette adapter and cigarette lighter plug-in and THERE YOU GO!

Charango is closer to Big Calm, but it has more upbeat stuff than either of them. From most laid back to most upbeat it goes WCYT, BC, Charango and then Fragments of Freedom. I highly recommend Charango, it has one track in particular called "women lose weight" that is extremely silly, and it has lots of other good stuff on it. I heart Morcheeba. No one has a voice like Skye Edwards.

Cool picks. I haven't listened to Rammstein in years, but I still dig Ministry. How's The Sinister Urge compare to White Zombie's music? I didn't like Rob's first CD after White Zombie, but I still love La Sexorcisto and Astro Creep 2000... I was hoping he could do something that could compare to either one of them, but something tells me that's not gonna happen.

At least he's making cool campy b-horror movies now...

Well, if you didn't like Rob's first CD, you're definitely not going to like the second one. It seemed "softer" to me, but then again, I consider the Melvins and Soundgarden to be the "easy listening" stuff from my CD collection. (I've got White Pony by the Deftones... that's definitely easy listening. I wasn't expecting it to be, but oh well. Some nice stuff there.)

The CD in my player right now is a sample/demo CD that came with Future Music magazine. There are a small number of songs on it sent in by readers. One song I liked enough to put the CD back in (where it is currently) to listen to again. (for some reason there is a different play list on the PC than the regular CD player; can't get those songs to show on the PC.)

These amature songs are superior anything on pop radio. (But pop radio's not all that hard to beat.)

Everything on pop radio either sucks, or is on a re-run channel with a sucky play list and at best is a song I liked at one time but have heard so many times that I no longer care.

The last album I had in was a Van Halen (with Dave).

The next album will probably be the Thorns, just got an autographed copy.

As far as J-pop goes, I only really like theme songs from anime I like. I listen to them more because the song reminds me of the show instead of just because I like the music, I guess.

I still want the music from Azumanga... so far, I've found the theme song and end credit song, also the karaoke night stuff they were singing, but I still want the no-lyric versions of the music they play for each girl. Anyone know where I can find those (and don't say "Napster/WinMX/Morpheus/whatever" because I've tried that)?

As you can see, it's obviously too big a file to put here.

Reasons:
1. I like variety. Variety is good.
2. I barely understand .0001% of the knocks on various video game characters; don't expect me to grasp why that genre/subgenre/performer sucks.
3. I'm not part of any subcultre or organization that require me to hate any genre/subgenre/performer.
