Here is a link to the poster
http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/image/gits2.jpg

It's titled "Innocence." For those who can't read Japanese, the catch line says, "I did not want to be a (puppet/doll)." I'm assuming the Puppet Master from the first movie may be back.

From what I've read it's suppose to explore the following question: Can human love exist without a physical body? Mamoru Oshii depicts a man and a woman from a future world where the border between human and machine is ambiguous.

Kind of makes me of one of my other favorite animes, Chobits.

That's the only news I know of so far. Besides being a potential sequal to the first movie, I wonder if it will have any connections to the great series of Ghost in the Shell, Stand Alone Complex. Speaking of that, will Yoko Kanno do the music?

That's all the info and questions I have so far. Also it will be out next April. I hope it's not a prank like that one Evangelion one.

Nope it's real, here's the official announcement in production i.g.'s message board will there be fuchikoma?

It's being co-produced with Studio Ghibli! niiiiiiice, no word on if Kano is doing the soundtrack though, it's almost certain she will.

I want the special sense of humor of Shirow, Fuchikomas and hentai scenes (cut in the US version) like in the manga, this time!

The movie was ok, but certainly it wasn't as good as the manga, in my opinion.

Is that picture of Gatou the only picture of the movie so far?

After watching clips of my copy of the movie which had decent quality animation and comparing it to SAC, I can't believe the shame the TV series puts on the movie.

I want any sense of humor. The first film was begging for some comedic relief.

I think this is more of a "fact" than an opinion. ;D

Also, I agree...a Puma twins cameo would be awesome. ;D

Heh, I'd like that. There was a scene in Standalone Complex that was similar to the scene in the comic with the Puma Twins... but this time with some ugly guy :( I wonder if they'll take any of the story from the GITS 2 manga, I've only read the first chapter and so far it's really confusing, but the art is super nice, almost all in color.

Isn't that always the case? I mean, has there ever been a manga you'd read that was transferred to a movie and you said: "this is way better than the manga!"?
To me,it's just not the same.I view them as to different things.I hadn't had a chance to read the whole manga yet but I like it very much. It's "humor" is great.Still,it doesn't change my opinion about the movie.
Same goes for Akira.I can't expect an epic science fiction of 2000+ pages to be converted the same way as a movie. It would take an extra two hours in the movie's length. What I'm trying to say is I appreciate them both in different ways I guess..

That's pretty much true Genjuro. The series of DNA^2 didn't measure up to half of the manga, but I still liked it for how it was. I'm not that familiar to the Ghost in the Shell manga as my only exposure with that franchise is just the first movie and Stand Alone Complex. I still like the first movie for what it was. Maybe in the second movie they will have short Tachikoma clips like they do with the series.

According to a post from Sakurai on their message board "There are lots of complicated reasons why we couldn't use the name, Fuchikoma and its design. However Tachikoma is named and designed by Shirow Masamune himself."

Tachikoma-kun is one of my favorite characters in SAC. I just love his specials. They're so kawaii (cute) and okashii (funny). I like the recent episode of Stand Alone Complex. I thought it was pretty good giving Batou his own episode and looking more into him.

Sakuma Rei, who also did the voice for Morrigan (tv), Peorth and the cat from Kiki's Delivery Service to name a few.

Wasn't Sakuma Rei also the one who did Shampoo in Ranma 1/2, Mariemeia in Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, and Nina Purpleton in Gundam 0083?

Yes, their are a few TV series I like where the anime was better than the manga. Angelic Layer is one, as the TV series takes out most of the silly gag illustrations and provides a better final conflict than the manga. CCS, which is a good manga, benfits from the extra episodes and is one of the few series where the anime expands on the manga.

And there's Escalfowne, which was a rather bland and lackluster shonen manga at first. In fact when Tokyopop publishes it you'll see alot of people turning off of it quickly as it has very little in common with the TV series...

Fuck Shirow.

I love Oshii's sober and depressing style.

Keep at it, I say.

The man hasn't cracked a smile since 1984, and judging from the poster, he isn't going to be breaking his streak.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciates Oshii's stone faced work. While I can see how some people may not like that Oshii took the Shirow trademarks of cheesecake, mechanical fetish and text heavy stories and threw all that shit out the door in favor of having morose characters staring silently into the distance I thought it made for an interesting adaptation. Here's to hoping he continues his dour movie making streak.
