Since it is on the MvS? Curious. Will it be emulated right after it comes out? It happened with KOF 2k2.

I'm not big into emulation whatsoever. But the only advantadge I can see will that we'll have sprites from the Capcom side done in SNK side we can use for tags and stuff(dumb advantadge I know),as well as having a Shiki 2-D sprite and a Tessa one.

What are it's chances of being emulated?

100%. Whether it should be emulated or not is another matter though...

Might not be right after it's released... I've heard someting about the game using a new chip. It might take dumpers a while to figure that out. Matrimelee has been out for a while now and that's not dumped.

Matrimelee isn't as popular as SvC is going to be. SvC will probably be as popular or even more popular than KOF and if the game can't be dumped, then someone will find a bootleg of the game that has had the hardware hacked and dump that. A little known fact about a lot of MVS dumps is that most of the ones that are released early are actually dumps of bootleg carts that have been hacked into working like a normal MVS cart.

I remember that for either KOF2k or KOF2k1, some people mentioned that there was a bug in either the cart or the emulation where one of Benimaru's moves would be screwed up. The answer that they got from MAME devs and ROM hackers was that the bug was not in the cart or the emulator (NeoRAGEx), but rather in the bootleg that their ROM was from.

It will be dumped, it will be dumped quickly, people will scream bloody murder about how ROM dumpers have reached their 27th "new low", pragmatic people like me will note that cars with the keys in the ignition and all of the doors wide open in a ghetto often get stolen, and afterward the debate will quickly degenerate into "Fuck you", "No, fuck you", "No, fuck YOU"...

Let's see:

- Highly anticipated game.

- Designed on an archaic arcade system that's been hacked and cracked six ways from Sunday already.

It's only a matter of time. Yes, it is rather unfortunate and definitely puts the screws to all of the people good and honest enough to put their hard-earned dollars in to buying a Neo cart.

I, however, will be waiting for a console port and playing the emulated version in the meantime (unless an arcade within an hour's drive, by some miracle, happens to get it). I have a Neo, but my days of buying $300+ carts are over. Cheap? Yup. Dishonest? Uh huh. A sacrifice I'm willing to make? Goes without saying.

I give it 48 hours.

Not that the game won't start raking in money like crazy the instant it gets into the arcades, and then again when it is released on the PS2.

KOF2k2 was not emulated right after it was released. In fact,it was held up from being released if I remember correctly. And I don't think Matrimelee is not yet dumped because it's not "popular".Check out any major rom requesting forum and you'll see now people asking for every SNK game that gets released.

I don't think that SvC will be dumped that soon. This may sound ridiculous, but I think some of the people who dump SNK games have knowledge of their actions and some "responsibility" if that can be said. Some may argue that it doesn't really matter whether its two weeks or 3 months and they're right but what I want to say is no dumper tries to justify what he's doing and make it "legal".As should be with everyone who plays the roms afterwards.(including me)

Heh, see Genjuro's been around and he knows how the game is played. There's only a handful of people with the proper equipment to dump Neo Geo games that use the encryption. The only 2 that we publicly know of are Neo-0 and the Nuei Ziel made by Manson, but he's already said he's leaving the neo dumping to the others and has moved on to PC-FX games. That leaves Billy Jr. and Mr. Lee... the infamous team that had dumped KOF 2k well before anyone else but refused to release the roms. They likely had a part in the recent Neo dumpings as well... and if you remember KOF 2k2 and Metal Slug 4 were dumped, but then the roms were not released until months after that... if I remember right I think KOF 2k2 was actually leaked. If a bootlegger allows the roms to be dumped and publicly released... there goes their whole market right there. ROTD was dumped fairly fast because at that point it looked like there was no future for MVS or SNK... but now there is. So anyway here's my opinion. Yes SNK vs Capcom Chaos will be dumped probably a month or 2 after it's released in arcades, but the roms will not be publicly available until at least early 2004.

The key word is "some" - some definitely don't. Regardless of my stand on the issue, thinking a game like this wouldn't get dumped quickly is somewhat ignorant, IMO. Then again, stuff like encryption and whatnot might get in the way, but I'd be damn surprised if people refused to touch it becuase of moral reasons.

Yes it was, it just wasn't _publically_ distributed. I'd say the same probably goes for Matrimelee. Somewhere, someone's sitting on a dump, playing it till the cows come home. They're fast, the li'l buggers. :)

As soon as it gets emulated they'll make some Nebula screencaps and dangle it in front of everyone.

Haven't seen any for Matrimelee though, guess the demand for that game really is low.

I know there's a lot of MUGEN developers who get their dumps as quickly as possible to make MUGEN characters/stages/lifebars/etc. It happened with KoF2002 and ROTD.

I'm honestly waiting for that. FINDING a reliable server/site letalone downloading 70 somethin' MB roms (when having a 56k connection) is too much of a hassle for me. MUGEN conversions, while not as 100% perfect (depends on the developer) as the real thing, it beats having to wait for a console release when there are NO arcades in your area.

I don't think it'll be dumped very quickly. I think it'll be like KOF2k1 and they'll wait for a while after the MVS release. I think it was a month or so. I can't remember, basically they let Playmore make some money first before dumping, it's not like they tried. As a matter of fact, I think they did, but they didn't release it yet.

Am I gonna download the rom, probably, but I'm gonna buy the PS2 and DC release too.

do you guys think that Matrimelee will come out on DC in Japan?

I haven't heard anything about it, but if it plays good, I'd get it.

Assuming Playmore won't abandon the Dreamcast in Japan.

I'll just wait for SvC to come to PS2 in December. I have enough games already (with KOF2k2 coming up on DC) that I can afford patience.

I personally think KOF2k2 is Playmore's last DC release unless it sells really, really well since there's firm plans for PS2 release of SvC, but nothing about a DC one.

Just because it isn't announced doesn't mean that SvC won't make it to the DC in Japan. CvS2 wasn't announced for the DC until later. So I think it'll be on it.

Will it be emulated? Most definetely.

Will it be emulated within 6 months of its retail release? Highly unlikely, because the bootleggers will hoard the shit out of the roms until they've made enough moolah off their ill-gotten goods.

Thankfully, those of us who don't own Neo-Geos and/or don't have a decent arcade in the area will have the ports to fall back on, without having to wait a year or import it, thusly not having to rely on roms and give Playmore the financial support they deserve.

*raises hand*

Me,me! I don't have a decent arcade. They still have the same old games after like 4 years. It's boring. I was hoping we'd get KOF 2k2 there. But,after all this time. Nope. I really hope we get SvC.

Well.... I have my doubts: Not many people know this but KoF '2000 has 2 versions, the standard MVS version ("version B") and a new version that uses a different chipset ("version A"), B verion was dumped because it was only encryption protected but A version was never dumped and never will, as the A version is dumped already.
By the way, there are slight differences between the versions, the most noticeable is that K' and Maxima are way to overpowered on the A version.

... Damn, I got to wait almost 2 years for my local arcade to get the MVS release, they got it with higher price (3 or 2 credits the play), they got it in some crappy machines (no diagonals and not any acurracy at all) and they usually got the booteg version... And in some cases the booteg games crash or get totally pixeled and you can't play properly).
... At this point my first objective is getting BoF V and maybe Tekken 4; but I'm still $100 short, so if I can squeeze some more cash maybe I'll get the import, if not then screw it I wait for the shitty booteg... Damn.

The initial dump of KoF2000 that was made available was a dump from a beta cart that had no encryption. The same holds for Garou.

I believe the encryption on both those games has been broken for over a year now.
