I just rented A Better Tomorrow and loved it. Can you guys recommend some other HK movies like it? I wouldn't mind some comedies, too :P

A better tomorrow is probably the best gun fight HK flick around. The others just don't have any good sequences and storyline to boot. You have been warned.

There is a sequel to A Better tomorrow, and also some other John Woo gun fight movies around though.

In case you do not know, the male lead in A Better Tomorrow just committed suicide recently.

Defintely check out ABT2, The Killer, Hard Boiled and A Bullet In The Head. Time & Tide is pretty damn cool too. I haven't seen it, but Once a Thief supposedly is a great movie too. More wacky/comical than action, maybe, but apparently great nonetheless. I've heard Stormriders, 2000 AD and Purple Storm are kinda cool too...

Hope that was of any help. ;D

It just so happens that I'm part of a team making a mod for UT2003, called 'The Opera' inspired by HK action movies. Check out http://opera.redeemedsoft.com if you're interested. Be sure to check out the forums too! ;)

Other good old action movies are:
God of gamblers
The killer
Tiger on the beat
All of them with the great Chow Yun Fat!

After having watched "the killer", You should look for the great comedy "the king of comedy" by stephen chow (Shaolin soccer actor and director); there is a parody of the church scene "John Woo style"!!

Most recently, I was lucky enough to see a new HK movie called "SO CLOSE" during my last trip to Japan; it is like a "Cat'sEye/Charlie's Angels" flick with a lot of action, fun and three of the most beautiful asian actresses(Karen Mok, VICKY ZAO, and Qui Shu).
Hope this helps!

Chow Yun Fat rocks my socks. Mark is a God... like... he said... he was in... never mind.
Anyways, is ABT2 as good as the first? Is mark's brother as bad ass as Mark was?
And I just watched Shaolin Soccer. Damn that was awesome.
