Yuga + Jedah or Pyron. Team world destroyer! Quite frankly, I like bosses lot, and I enjoy fighting them. Most fighting games are not that hard, until you get to the boss, so generally the whole challenge in a game is in that last fight (or the last couple, depending on the game)
I figure they should go for something really really powerful this time, and certainly nothing as silly as Arthur. Great character, but not a fighting game character. If he was in it, you might as well but Baalzebub or Lucifer in as the final bosses.

quote: NO boss, just have it like Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2 and have people fight their rivals as "bosses" to finish the story.
I actually liked that, and depending on how good your score is or if you continued or whatever, determines what rival you fight. Especially good for those with more than one rival.
you can have one of them as a mid boss (like Alpha/Zero 2) if you don't lose for a couple of fights or whatnot someone will jump in and challenge you.
CvS2 also did this before the tournament finals. Y'know when either Geese or Bison would challege you depending on Groove Points earned.
This time it would just be determined by wins and how you win and if you continued or not.
I agree 110%. Zero 2-style "rival" bosses make for a much more entertaining story. (Not that story is really very important in a dream match/crossover style game). However, in this case, almost every character has a natural rival (either on their own side or on the other side) that could be a last boss.
Ultra-mega bosses usually turn out incredibly weak anyways (see Abyss, Shin Gouki/God Rugal, SFZ3 Bison, Zero, Krizalid). Then again, I did like Goenitz, Orochi, Kain/Grant, and Gill... so I suppose it's not ALWAYS a bad idea. It just seems like it totally breaks the story down when EVERYONE is chasing after the same person. (Once again... not that story is incredibly important)

Story really isn't important, but for me, I need a purpose for a fight. Mostly because people just don't fight for the hell of it, but I really like the Alpha 2 way of things. There can be uber bosses too, but you just can't lose a round or something. Remember those old school fighters and how you couldn't lose a round to fight the secret boss? I think Fatal Fury Special was like that to fight Ryo.

On the SNK side I'd like to see Yuga, Amakusa, Orochi (in some new form), Kriz, Igniz, or that freaky dude from Magician Lord.
Capcom side, Pyron, Jedah, Sigma, or one of the bosses from Megaman Legends.
If its Geese/Rugal/Orochi Iori/Bison/Akuma/Evil Ryu again, I'm gonna puke. Those guys are pussies compared to the above.

quote: Besides, if all your characters did in fighting games was fight your " rival " constantly, over and over... well, it would get pretty boring. You need some sort of villain to be doing something really evil once in a while. Also, when you get down to it, it's difficult for every character to have a definate "rival" without a lot of really specious logic going in to their rivalries (like the Mike Bison/Kim Kaphwan thing in Capcom vs. SNK 2.. what was up with that??)
i get pretty bored fighting the same evil villain constantly, over and over
also, you said it yourself. not every character has a definite rival. wouldn't it go the same for bosses? you think everyone in Street Fighter wanted Psycho Crusher Vega dead? Bison was his lackey, i'm sure he could care less about him. Blanka just wanted to eat bananas all day. i could go on but i think i've argued my point
Well, I still think that rivals would make great bosses, but for those characters that don't have rivals can just fight anybody, or the boss for they're respective companies. I'm sure Blanka has a rival in SNK (Benimaru).

quote: I'm not saying rivals are a bad thing, I'm just tired of people always whining about bosses. You need SOME centralized villainy from time to time. Rivals over and over would be boring, and wouldn't change the story much from the way it currently is, for you story nazis (half of the rivalries will be incredibly forced, just look at GGXX's story mode) the bottom line is fighting games pretty much always have a good 70% of characters who really just have little to do with the central story, and there's nothing that can really be done about it. I don't mind rivals, but give me a good villain any day.
Edit: Besides, this being a "vs" game where everyone likes to brush off the storyline, why would it matter if the final boss was their " rival " anyway? I'd much rather have it end in a bang with a big dramatic boss fight rather than just fighting a character anybody and their grandmother could use.
TOTALY TRUE!!!!!
In fact I've always thinked about and huge powered boss for the end of the game and a toned down version of the same character for the 2P mode.
In fact I think that a hard and charismatic boss could absolutly be a well balanced character. all you have to do is to create him as a normal character, with balanced moves, good story ( a reason to be the boss..) and then just power him to the wazoo for the 1P mode. that could work easily.
So yes for the rival as mid-boss but not as Boss (they aren't so "charismatic") Yes to an hard one as Final boss but should be playable and well balanced in 2P mode. IMO that's what I'm thinking.

There will be two bosses, an SNK boss and a Capcom boss. The SNK boss will be Kyo and the Capcom boss will be Ryu.
Now the 'interesting' twist. Depending on your fighter or team of fighters, the boss character will become 'possessed' by the 'ghost' of a past fighter. Here are the 'ghosts' that I would have:
SNK Ghosts Ghost Geese Ghost Rugal Ghost Orochi Ghost Kyo Ghost Iori
Capcom Ghosts Ghost Bison Ghost Sagat Ghost Gill Ghost Ryu Ghost Akuma
So this is how it works, if you have an SNK character, you will fight Ryu who is 'possessed' by an SNK Ghost. If you have a Capcom character, you will fight Kyo who is 'possessed' by a Capcom Ghost. What the ghosts essessntially do is add their specials and supers to Ryu or Kyo- thus you get some sort of weird amalgamation boss like God Rugal or Shin Akuma.
For example, Terry would fight Ryu under the possession of Geese. Imagine Ryu with ALL of his specials plus all of Geese's counters and supers. WOO HOO! I honestly don't think it would take that much effort to give Ryu and Kyo a few new animations for each of the "ghost" specials and supers. It's certainly 'cheaper' then adding entire boss characters. Besides, I don't want SNK filling up space with boring, overused, boss characters. This way, we get a 'traditional' boss but something new.
Now you may wonder, not everyone is a 'ghost.' Kyo and Ryu haven't died. We'll leave it to the writers to figure out a way to fix that. Maybe in the game, you kill your 'ghost' rival (if he's not dead already), thus giving the 'ghost' a reason to come back and get you!

Well I like the idea a lot, really not bad... the only black point I see is that some ghost aren't well chossen for this, like kyo, iori, ryu ghost since they're normal cast, here try those:
Capcom: Ghost Bison "" Gill "" Waldol (from warzard) "" Death ( from CFAS) "" Jedah.
SNK: ghost Rugal "" Geese "" Orochi "" Yuda ( from SS64) "" Silber (from buruki one)
BTW if Cap and Shin the heroes of SvC card clash could be the true heroes of the game it could be fun!!!!
