...There is a new arcade in my neighbourhood which boosts a lot of fighting games. What amazes me is that they have 1 Street Fighter II machine, 1 Super Street Fighter II machine and 1 Super Street Fighter II Turbo machine. And odd enough, there were quite a number of people who played on these machines. Makes me tempted to try them the next time I go again.

Any tricks/bugs/strategies that you can recall from these two games? I remember there was a Guile bug in Street Fighter II that you can keep throwing your opponent lying on the floor, or something like that....Oh yes, there was also this sign that says "Machine halt due to Guile will not have credit refunded". What was that for?

I think i saw that bug, basically Guile stays frozen in the air with one of his jumping animation frames, but the enemy cant do anything to touch him. I guess the machine says that if someone does that bug, they wont give you another game.

Similar to a MK2 bug, which resetted the whole thing.

Tell the arcade owner that if he wants people to continue to go to the arcade that he better hold tournaments. Tournaments are what keep my arcade lively.

I wish I had an arcade that was like that. Having that sign posted only shows the owner is knowledgeable about the games he has in his place #_#

Or probably he had enough of refunding credits to players who do the bug fighting M.Bison (last stage), and gets to play another game. Repeat...

Awwww come on guys, I am sure we had some memorable bugs/stratagies for the games! Come on!

Ahh the Magic Handcuff technique...

Actually, if my memory serves me well the original SF2 had a number of bugs to it - invisible characters, reset the machine. I can only assume that the arcade operator wants to make it clear that credits won't be reissued if players are responsible for ruining their own game with these trick.

Here's a Glitch FAQ (available from here if GameFAQs stops you from linking directly to a txt file). Apparently, there are enough glitches with Guile that I wonder if Guile's entire presence in the game is nothing more than an elaborate glitch. Depending on what version they're using, Guile could have about four or five glitches, three of which crash the game. That version is unfortunately the most common one.

Anyone remember the old Taiwan/ China hacked version of SF called Rainbow Edition? It had the only incarnation of Ryu that could hold a candle to MvC2's Cable, what with the fireballs(!) coming out of Ryu's armpit and big toe when ever he did the Shoryuken.

SF2:WW was easily the buggiest of the bunch since I doubt anyone thought the game was going to take off like it did. For SSF2 I do remember Zangief being able to go from hit animation into his 360 + K throw from anywhere on the screen but that was hardly a make or break glitch in the game. As for strats you'll probably be just fine going with Guile or Dhalsim or hopping across the screen by doing constant jab uppercuts with Ken. For SF2:WW fun remember to knock Blanka out of his ball attack for incredible amounts of damage or play Zangief for all the extra throws he has that he lost in subsequent SF2 games.

haha - I totally forgot that gief used to be the ultra grappler - with a different throw for every button. that was so cool!

we didn't have "rainboy edition" where I lived, we had "ACCELERATED." that thing was fun. no charges, air specials - and there was a weird thing when blanka bit you, he glitched into ryu slowly dragon punching.

Is that the one where you can throw a million Sonic Booms with Guile?

And I remember seeing a version where E. Honda morphed into Chun-li, then to Dhalsim, etc.

Oh yes, I remembered that too. Just press Start button and you will scroll through the different charcters you want to play.

I think that is the version whereby Zangief has a "Yoga Flame" from his feet when he does the Spinning Lariet, Chun-Li multiple hit spinning bird kick, Barlog(M.Bison) charge punch with 2 Hadoken (instant dizziness when hit + 50% life taken...O_o).

Man, you could lose your credit in 1 minute. Gee, come to think of it, that was probably Capcom's ploy to rip our credits....

I think the first bug ever to appear in SFII:WW was the red fireball. Nobody knew what the heck that happened.

Ah those were the days...

This versions of SF are great for a laugh. Here where called "STREET FIGHTER BORRACHO!!!!!!!!!" (Drunken Street Fighter), and were the sensation in the arcades at one moment.

Among other scary things, I remember Ryu and Ken throwing an entire column of hadokens whenever they did a Shoryuken... O_o
