Yep, I finally did tonight. Let's see...I guess I can give random opinions and such.
-I tried out nearly every character. I found I did particularly well, however, with Jam and Millia. I'm decent with Zappa, but I'll have to learn to use him better before I can say I do well. Ky was easy to pick up, too. I had trouble using some characters with HCB,F motions and the like. I couldn't pull them off consistently on the standard PS2 pad. I did not do very well in particular with Bridget, Eddie and Testament. They seem to require lots of setting up and such, which I seem unable to do as of now. I like Bridget a whole lot all the same.
-Music and sound-wise, I didn't notice any of the tinny voices and whatnot people have complained about. Everything sounded fine on my friend's TV. Things in particular that stood out sound-wise, for good or bad, included I-no's theme, Faust's voice, Zappa's voice, Jam's voice, and Robo Ky's theme. Jam's voice was cool at some points, but she does scream a bit much. All the others I mentioned I liked (VIVA WATASHI!).
-The graphics are amazing. Duh. Maybe a little lacking in animation sometimes, but still good. The backgrounds complement the characters very well.
-Zappa's IK kicks ass. KOWAI YO! It's cool how he screams that. Jam's is good as well. I noticed some characters have way better range on IKs than others. I-no's, for example, is a pain to hit with. Zappa's may be short-ranged but I've nailed opponents with it more than once who jump in on me. Millia's and Jam's are wonderful, range-wise. And Slayer's is always entertaining.
-Story Mode is fun. I played through as Zappa, Jam, Millia, and Dizzy. I just didn't dig the overlapping dialogs much. And as I-no I ran into Sol at the end who REGENERATED and was in cheap-ass Dragon Install. Grr. Couldn't win. Must have no skillz.
So, there are some opinions and such, I guess. I'd say it's one of the best fighting games I've played. It's not hard to pick up, either. Well, I haven't done anything too advanced yet, like RCing and stuff, but, I do well enough. Hopefully I'll have another opportunity to play it again soon.

quote: I really liked the game. I just wanted know, how is Zappa's Instant Kill ( Kowai Yo~) conneted to "The Ring." Use spoiler alert if you wish.
Spoiler (Highlight to view) - In "The Ring", there's an image of a tree in the cursed videotape. Zappa has a tree appear in his IK. Also, there's a closeup of an eye in the American version's tape, but I'm not sure if this is in the Japanese one's. Plus, he turns into his ghost, S-ko, who looks a lot like Sadako/Samara, before the attack hits.
End of Spoiler
If I'm missing anything, someone feel free to correct me.

Alrighty, just got it yesterday. Here's what I think so far after giving it a days play through (mostly with Sol and KY Jelly). First, the good stuff.
The sprites look awesome, as do all the effects from the various moves. (Wish they would've added the same coloration detail to all the sprites that they did with I-No, instead of keeping them with only 2 color shades)
System that's easy to learn but difficult to master (as any good fighting game is like).
Best presentation in any fighting game I've seen thus far.
Totally fuckin' love the artwork.
Lots of modes that provide assloads of replayability. (Survival is proving to be a pain in the ass, but that's because I kinda suck right now)
Awesome and unique characters (though Bridget scares the shit out of me) that don't rip off any others from other franchises. (Gotta love Baiken and Jam).
Varied styles of fighting that aren't just a bunch of variations of shotos and grapplers.
Boss fight that's difficult but not impossible (took me a while to figure out how to dodge I-no's fuckin 50-million pellets of death move that covers the entirety of the area in front of her).
And now, the bad.
Damage system seems to be a bit whacked. Most super moves will take off about 1/6th of a bar, while getting hit with a 3-hit combo will sometimes take off a 1/3 or more. On occasion, heavy slashes will connect and do nothing but tick damage. o_O Kinda frustrating when you perform a supposedly more powerful move on your opponent, and he/she turns around and does something less powerful and does more damage.
Collision detection is a little wonky at times. While playing Ky, there were two times when his projectile super passed straight through the opponent (Cliff and Robo Ky), even though the opponent was just standing there, and not blocking or performing a move. A lot times the tips of weapons (say about an inch or two proportionately) will whiff instead of connecting as well.
The animation was surprisingly jerky. While the sprites themselves look great, the quality of the animation was no better than that of Street Fighter 2 or Fatal Fury 1 and 2 for most of the moves. Animation was good for the standing poses and special effects though.
The music gets on my nerves. Normally a good song, regardless of its genre, will stick in my head and have something that makes it sound unique. Pretty much all the songs (aside from perhaps Robo-Ky's) sound too similar and generic, lack melody, and are abrasive on my psyche. The technical quality is top notch though, and its still better than the trash-o-rama that was KOF 2001 and Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Air combos. This is a matter of personal preference, but I HATE air combos.
The AI can be cheap as hell sometimes, and the difficulty varies a little too much in between certain rounds. First four rounds are generally a slaughter fest for me, and then all of a sudden the CPU kicks into high gear and kicks my ass beyond measure.
Certain characters seem to be lacking in the moves department compared to others. I'll have to mess around a bit more to see if it hurts them any comparitively.
Whatever retard at Arc that decided Robo Ky should be invincible except for the projectile super in Ky's story bit needs to be shot and burned. Its impossible to beat that damn thing!! Once I finally get my meter up to execute it, I'm usually at half life (Robo Ky cheeses like a mother), and Ky just blocks or jumps over it. GAAAHHHH!!!
Overall, the game tends to frustrate me in certain areas that IMO shouldn't, but I'll keep at it and see if it/I get any better as I play more.
