quote: Yeah... I'm tired of MvC2. I love having Felicia and Jill in the game (I LOVE THAT!), but otherwise, I thought it was too spastic with 3 on each team. That, and there was no story at all. I like my fighting games to have SOMETHING going on other than the fights. Capcom's starting to disappoint me. They're doing way too many straight ports of out-of-date games (take the RE series for example... two new ones and then ports of PLAYSTATION 1 games). They're really coming off as lazy to me.
Now, if you posted a topic gloating about how the XBox version of CapvsSNK2 magically didn't have online play anymore, THEN you'd have gotten my attention...
Exactly. I was a little disappointed when I bought DC Resident Evil 2, hoping it'd have a little something extra, being on a more powerful system and all. Very little to speak of, if anything, I recall. Of course, since I didn't have the PS version, I didn't care. However... who do they think they're selling the GC version to? Kids who grew up with N64 and are now old enough to play RE, and have never had the chance on PS? I just don't see why RE2 and RE3 need to be released YET AGAIN without any significant enhancements. I liked the GC RE1 remake, but that's probably only because of the sentimental attachment I have to RE1. RE0 didn't interest me.
Hell, RE2 came out on N64, too. This just strikes me as silly.
As for the MvC2 remarks, yeah, I don't like the teams of three very much, and the character roster is insane. Too many characters can actually be a problem! I thought MvC1 was a very, very cool game, with all the old Capcom and Marvel characters as helpers, and characters like Hiryu, Megaman, and Venom making their first appearances in a fighter. Loved it in arcades, and it was one of the chief reasons I imported a DC before the US release. But MvC2 just seems like a showcase of Capcom's old sprites, thrown together for little reason. The new characters, in large, don't interest me. Well, on the Marvel side. On the Capcom side, I did like Ruby Heart, and seeing Hayato and Jill in 2D was cool, too bad their sprites looked fuzzy and awful.
I like to think that if an MvC3 happened, it'd tone things down to the MvC1 level, but I don't think they can go back after they've gone where they are now.
And as for the Xbox Live remarks... yes, Xbox fanboys can be annoying, as any fanboys can. However, right now, I think MS has the only network capable of playing CvS2. Being trapped on dialup, i hate to say it, but this game just can't be played on 56k. It wouldn't work, especially if broadband lags. And Sony and Nintendo allow dialup users on their networks. As much as I love that they're inclusive, I can't see CvS2 working on a network with low speed connections on it. And if it did come out for them and it was broadband only, I'm sure there'd be a good deal of fuss and anger over it, and a lot of people trying to get on whose connections can't handle it, and...
Yeah. It'd be ugly.

quote: Why do you expect Capcom to rework their games? I prefre what they're doing, not spending money on remakes but making new games (RE4 and all of their new Gamecube stuff).
It's not that I expect every one of their games to be reworked, it's just that when they rerelease them on other systems with no new enhancements, it seems pointless. Case in point: RE2.
Resident Evil 2 appeared on Playstation, Playstation again (Dual Shock version, did this come out in the US?), PC, N64, Dreamcast, and now it's coming for GameCube. If they want to keep throwing the same game around, it'd be nice to see them at least do something significant to it. Most of the ports are excusable, but why RE2 and RE3 are coming out for GC, I just don't know.
Sure, it saves dev costs by not remaking the games, and it probably makes a little money, but it seems unnecessary.
I'm glad they're making more new games. I'm excited about Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7. But their whoring-out of the RE franchise is crazy.

Well, the fanboys I was talking about before were the first couple of posters who seem to be owners of PS2 or something and were doing the "Ha ha! Awww, XBox owners gonna cryyyyyy? Ha ha, we've got online play on an old game and you DON'T!" thing. That's the fanboy behavior I was talking about.
As for MvC2, I liked seeing old Marvel characters I hadn't played with in years, as well as Capcom characters I've never gotten to play with as well as old favorites. Other than that, there was no story and the gameplay was too spastic.
As for the old ports, I'm still waiting for Bionic Commando to come to PS2...
Hey look! I finally made a stupid tag!
