I remember playing Psycho Soliders in a gas station up in Wells, NV a few months after it came out. The game totally kicked ass, and the voices were charming. Little did I realize that it was by SNK, or great SNK was at the time/about to become. Played the old Athena cab once too a long time ago.

The boss is just at the end of the stage; the first boss is a big evil tree thing. You just need to wander about the stage and get items until you think you're strong enough to take him on.

Athena Asamiya is supposed to be a descendant of the original Athena, so probably it's offical. As for Psycho Soldier, since it's the name of the team, it would be safe to asume that it's official too...
