I heard rumors that GGXX was made by ex-snk members, maybe I was right after all...
1.zoom in&out=SamSho 2.jump cancel=SamSho 3.GGXX character moves=most of reminds me of SNK swordfighters... 4.(F)roman cancel&instant block=Garou:MOTW(Break,Just Defended) 5.Faultless defence cancel=Garou:MOTW Feint cancel

Yeah, a fair amount of the team that made GGX and GGXX are former SNK employees, most of which worked on Last Blade if I recall.

aha so im not the only one who noticed that gg is like ss
ss4 had a move that let you use the pow meter and do an ultra damaging move kinda like gg's instant deaths
(sorry for not remembering names of moves, i havent played either game in a while)

1.) More like almost every non-KOF fighting game on the MVS... man that was a signature Neo-Geo fighting game feature, wasn't it?
2.) can't comment on this one; i can't remember which SS was the first to have jump cancel (it was the third one i think)... by then I wonder if X-Men:CotA had come out yet...
3.) hard to say; you have a sword: I imagine you'd mostly be slashing and thrusting?
4.) Even more so with the Garou beta, where some characters could empty cancel some moves (e.g. Rock's standing A+B overhead) into specials... Parrying/JD (similar in concept, different in details) are both becoming popular game mechanics to implement...
5.) Hmm... i kinda feel that Feint cancelling falls more into the Garou "Breaking" thing than the FDC; esp. in light of the prototype Garou (see above). Wasn't FDC a bug?
Well, no matter what, fighting games are famous for borrowing and building from preceding games in the genre; and after the (momentary) death of SNK, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the talented folks there got picked up by a company with cash looking to make a quality fighter.
