Even if this wasn't a ridiculous rumor, I kinda wonder... why?

First, why anyone would be led to believe and to tell you that kind of thing, and secondly, what the purpose would be. In order to burn a CD you'd need to remove the game data CD. What would it be for? Backing up game data? Backing up saves? You couldn't back up saves because you wouldn't be able to modify them on the disc.. it doesn't make sense why anyone would even assume why this would be desireable feature for PS2.

Weird, totally false rumor. Where'd you see this at? I'd like to go smack some sense into people.

i heard it at a different board (very crappy board btw, it shows eh?). but i just wanted to ask here just to make sure, now i know.

wait, now i know where i got it from, i found this in the latest issue of egm, its a response to a letter received :

"According to our hardware contact at Sony, Irwin Fletcher, all playstation from SCPH33001 on feature an upgraded fetzer valve, which both improves graphics and allows you to burn cd's.(tap up-down-up-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-start to open the CD burner menu.) That aside, there havent been any changes"

thats why i wasnt sure if was true or not............now im still wondering.

thats why i wasnt sure if was true or not............now im still wondering.

....? You sure that wasn't the April edition EGM?

Even if that model was a developer kit, it still doesn't make sense that there would be a video-game-secrete-code like method for using the burner.
