"Question about Naruto (the manga)" , posted Fri 24 Jan 14:01post reply

Any of you people here have read it? I bought the first tome and I liked it but I'm not too sure about continuing the collection, so I'll just ask:

Do you like it? Does it become too Dragonball-ish or it keeps its own style? Do the characters evolve? etc, etc. Just give me your opinion about it. Thanks...

PS: oh, and no spoilers please

I'm in the exact same situation. I have the first tome, but, even when I liked it, I won't continue the series except if I get convinced that the series is very good (need to save for Metroid Prime and RE0).

Opinions are welcome!

He pensado lo mismo...

Or you could just check them out yourself.

Link Here

I did. Checked them out here, and promptly bought them online. If you're worried about spoilers, try not to caught up and read them all. I stopped at the beginning of the second volume. But use the site to for the translations. Highly recommend the site.

Ah ah!!! Naruto question!!! OK I tell ya everything you want about it....spoiler free of course so you can read it won't break you the story.

this is the soty of a youg boy named naruto (obvious...) this happen in some kind of alternative japan (in fact the world in diffrent) in this place many peoples becomes ninja like some can of popular army( sort of) and the story start when naruto an orphan try to unter the ninja school.

he will make some friend and some rival (obvious 2nd)and he will travel to learn the ninja art and to realize his dream, become the new "Hokage" (master of all the ninja.)

that's for the story, other way I find it graphicaly one of the best design ever IMO, the manga evolve greatly with soem fighting scene and storyline scene (not just a brawlfest...)the good thing is that even being the hero, Naruto isn't always under the spotlight and each character will have a little time for them (yes even the foes.)

if naruto become stronger and stronger he have to pay for that, (we'll se his trainig for each technic he learn, this way that never turn in a overpowered chase like dragon ball.) that allow him to evole slowly be corectly.
the ennemies aren't over powered, those are just diference between an child who learn and an adult who master the technics, and naruto doesn't always win.

so far a really good action manga, but IMO try it in japanese since the other version I've tried (French and English) are really pathetic in their translation...

Why did I suppose you would answer here?
I've bought the 2nd vol. by now, and I've enjoyed it so I guess I'll continue with the series, if it doesn't become too expensive...
Oh, and I guess I'll be reading the Spanish version (by Glénat BTW, ain't it a French publisher?) since I don't know Japanese... I'll always like the original version over the others, but first of all I wanna understand the story.

Oh, thanks for the web, Gekiganger, I didn't know it.

Naruto is one of the best manga I've ever read. I admit that I've lost a little bit of interest in it lately, but only in the very recent chapters. Actually, I wonder if it's coming to and end relatively soon.
But...I think the characters are very real and I love how so many different ones are focused on. The art is really unique and only gets better...I love the setting and detail of the backgrounds as well as the unique way that the artist draws figures and action. It has so many scenes that have really touched me...and so many memorable characters and totally original fights. Actually, in terms of direction and ingenuity, I'd say it's one of the best fight manga ever.
If you're only on volume 2 or so...keep at it. It only gets better.

"Glénat" is from Belgium.
But in France, Naruto is published by "Kana".
We're at vol.5 (the beginning of the mid-class ninja tournament) !
