Yeah, I know I'm late but I just wanted to post it.

I haven't played too much, I got kicked in 3rd stage as usual, but I got some first impressions:

- People here talked about the crazy timing in this game, and I can only agree. Boy don't know if they did it on purpose or if I'm being scrubber than usual (or both) but those half circles were harder than ever. Not to mention Ryo's SDM (qcf+c then a) or K9999's DMs, of course....

- About music, graphics, designs and all that stuff: well, definitely better than 2k1 IMO, even though I didn't specially dislike 2k1's designs. New frames here and everywhere, perhaps sometimes they're only little details but I'm sold to them (Athena's new "Psycho Ball", gotta love it); same I could say about the new voices too (except Terry's and Yashiro's ).

- And what has to be said, has to be said: no King and no Shingo . Argh.

Perhaps nothing new, but that's what I think. Gonna play it more, though, and analyze it more deeply.

See ya.

Be careful about the music, the quality of the themes is way inferior to the previous ones, maybe they wanted to reduce cpu usage or memory, but the themes sound like they were from a Genesis game.

Yeah, you're right, the Genesis had better sound than KOF2002.

Wow! You're very lucky! I wanna play it!

This is like the dreammatch to end all dreammatchs in the KOF universe. Old favorites mixed the with the new millenium favorites.

You're a bit arsh here...
Even if the sound quality is not brilliant, the musics are far better than the crap of KOF 2001...
By the way, how is the CD of remixes of 2002? (and is there any chance the soundtrack of the DC version would be those remixes?)

Well, heard some of the themes (Esaka, Arashi, CYS, etc) and I'm agree with Iggy here. I find the new musics OK, I like how they sound even if quality ain't at the old level, I still like the originals better though... And about voices, just wanna say this again: me doesn't like Terry's new ("bern kneckle!" )

Overall, I think it's a good compilation from the old KOF's with some new details added and good new stages. BUT, it has all these mistakes and ol' good things missing here and there, because of that non hardware changing policy. Even I, that don't care for technics as long as the game's good, think that this saga needs more memory space (don't care for better graphics) to add more things without having to sacrifice others.

PS: Oh! 2nd time I play and I got to the 5th stage!! . Is it easier than the old ones or am I getting better?

I was talking about the sound quality, not about the songs. The sound isn't as nitid as it was before. When I saw the game in the arcade I tought that the speakers were broken or dirty.

I've noticed that those QCF/QCB + C,A supers were a bit hard to do, but I didn't have any trouble getting Clark's Running Pirates HSDM out at all. Nor any other grapple super for that matter. The ones I have trouble doing are Vice's HSDM and Benimaru's HSDM. Whoever made those motions should be shot.

I really liked Angel's new animations and win poses. The increase in her movelist helps as well and if I'm not mistaken she finally does decent damage outside of DMs and the big windup hook punch. Most of all I love the fact that Angel's HSDM is the freaking People's Elbow! :D

Overall I really like the new KoF and I can't wait to get it for DC when it's finally released. Although the new version of Rugal makes me want Igniz back. Cheese-o-matic.
