i'm not too sure. i only have the ps2 ggx and i don't think there was a random bgm setting there. there was a stage select option but it just made everything more depressing (like hearing a laidback, easy-going tune in Testament's stage >_<)

That's what irks me. The fact that there's a random stage-select but rather than playing a different bgm, it plays the bgm for whoever the second player's character is. This becomes monotonous when my brother and I have lots of fights using the same characters.

There's a button to choose the BGM music... one of the R or L buttons. It'll give you a cursor that says "BGM" and you place on the character with the BGM you want to hear.
