I don't think I've seen this discussed here yet, but I just posted the news on my site...
Two things:
1) Playmore announces plans to get into Pachinko et al commercially. Adding insult to injury for Aruze. Kind of appropriate, almost ironic in a way.
2) Metal Slug 3 PS2 pics are up...There's one which shows the mode selection screen. Too bad you can't see what's on there other than 'arcade' mode, but there seem to be plenty of options...
3) Magicbox reported that in arcadia magazine's awards, KOF 2001 was the best selling arcade game in 2002! great! but can this be true? Did it outsell 2002? Maybe because arcade owners were expecting something big after they came back from the dead...
<addendum > P.S. - go buy Gekioh Shooting King for PSX!!! it's only US $10!!! </ addendum>

KOF2k1 was 12 month available for sale and KOF2k2 2 and a half. Next year arcadia charts KOF2k2 is the best selling arcade game :)

You have to remember kof 2001 came out at the end of the year(2001), so it will count for the 2002 awards, and kof 2002 for this years award.
Right, it has been answered already.

Maybe Playmore will be able to show us some new stuff like SvC.

Other : favorite maker : Konami (but if you add the votes SNK and Playmore had, they win)
Best character : 1st Bridget ( Ino is 13th, wich means that peoples don't have as much bad taste as peoples at sammy thought they had).
reader's favourite : GGXX (168.4 pts) KOF 2001 (125.3 pts) Pop'n 8 (82.3 pts) then : Ikaruga, Calibur 2, VF4Evo, then Pop'n 7 is 9th and Rage of the Dragons, 1ąth.

So what does this mean? Playmore/Aruze/SNK is doing great? That KOF is not dead but still super popular in the arcades? What does it say to you guys? This does sound like good news.
Sadly there are no Capcom games up there. The arcades are still a viable business to cater to. Right?

Well, the arcades are still popular and makes a lot of money in Japan and around Asia. Not in the US. As for Europe, I don't know.
About the Pachinko thing, I think Playmore shouldn't do that unless they're sure they'll get more money. I would use that money that have to move all the games off of the MVS, but whatever works for Playmore is good enough for me.
It is too bad that Capcom doesn't have anything there, but they're more into the console software these days anyway.

Capcom was 5th favorite maker behind Konami, Playmore, Sega and Namco (or Namco and Sega, don't remember), wich is abnormal for a compagny that hasn't done any arcade this year. They shouldn't even be there. By the way, the next arcade Capcom game (beside that DD's 2P costume simulation) will be about Z gundam. whooooooooo.

It sounds like inconclusive news to me. What exactly does best selling mean? That it had the most units sold to Japanese arcades or that it made the most money from customers during a twelve month period? How many arcades are we talking about here? How much money is changing hands? How does this year's results compare to the past few years? Questions, questions.

Sweet! Titans versus AEUG I assume, or will it be Titans v.s AEUG v.s Axis like the later part of the series? Can't wait to play with the Qubeley or the godlike Hyaku Shiki!
