I don't know how many of you like Disney's animated films. And at times,I know I don't(Atlantis, the endlees "cheap-quels" of popular movies, e.t.c). But I gotta admit,I'm kind of a fan of their works. Mostly the older stuff and a couple of the newer stuff.

I saw Treasure Planet with a friend of mine a month or so ago. And I liked it. It was OK. Had some brilliant animation to it. And I don't know why people say it's "Disney trying to be anime". It had it's own unique flavor.

Here are my Disney favorites,in no order:
Oliver and Company-(anyone else love this movie? I know I did. I have it on VHS,a classic!)

Great Mouse Detective-(was curious to see this, and I finally got it on DVD last week) and I've watched it twice. Very good movie with a classic plot and good voices. And I watched it TWICE! That's rare when I buy movies for my movie collection)

Lion King-(naturally,Timon and Pumbaa were my favorites since 7th grade)

Mulan-(good movie)

Lilo and Stitch(finally, something worthwhile from Disney since Tarzan)

Tarzan-(this is were Disney started to loose it's appeal, but it was still OK. Clayton was da bomb)

Treasure Planet-(not exactly what I'd add to my collection, but it was good, very good)

Aladdin-(How come they haven't released this on DVD yet?)

And those are my main favorites. There are a couple of others, but I can't think of them right now. But those I listed I like.

And it is true that Disney implemented pereveted stuff in some of their films? Persoanlly,I never notice and don't care for it really. But everyone I know keeps saying that.

I'll talk more about Disney later. Can't think of nothing else to add at the moment.

Its been a long time since I have seen a Disney movie and nothing new since Lion King. I am a fan of good ol' Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, and Pinocchio. Does Who Framed Roger Rabbit count since it had Disney characters?

But outside the movies I am hardcore Winnie the Pooh. The New Adventures owned my Saturday. After that there is Chip and Dale, Good Troop, and Darkwing Duck.

I think it's no secret I'm a big Disney fan, I like almost every animated movie they've done (aside from Hercules, I HATED Hercules with a burning passion... thankfully the Hercules world in Kingdom Hearts took out all the stupid bits of the movie and replaced them with Cloud) and like everyone else I dispise Cheap-quels (the only good Seqeuls they've made in my view: The Rescuers Down Under and Aladdin 2 and 3)

I used to really enjoy Disney TV shows (Duck Tails, Tail Spin, Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, all the old Mickey/Donald/Goofy/Pluto shorts they re-air in different ways, and of course Gargoyles) but now days their only cartoon I enjoy is Kim Possible, and occationally House of Mouse just to see how many characters I can name before I blank.

Just to rant on some up coming sequels:

Atlantis 2: okay, no one liked the first one, in fact it did so poorly they canceled the TV series based on it (which sucks since Demona and a Hunter from Gargoyles had a planned cameo!) So why even bother with this?

Stitch's New Movie: I like Lilo&Stitch, I even left the theater saying "I wouldn't mind seeing more of those characters" but for a sequel to come out a year after the first movie... that's a new low!

Jungle Book 2: Jungle Book is among my top 5 favorite Disney movie (with Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauy, the Great Mouse Dective, and Aladdin) but considering Baloo has a VA from Tail Spin, why did they replace him with John motherf**king Goodman?! Did they confuse Baloo with another big blue clawed character and call him by mistake?! Do they consider Goodman a 'star' who will get people into theaters?! It boogles the mind!! Worse yet Haley Joel Osmond is Mougli, which really only bothers me because what if a future KH game has a Jungle Book world... when Sora and Mougli talk it'll get confusing!!!

WHOA! REALLY?!? I'm a big Gargoyles fan, and that just sounds awesome. Before KH came out, I was hoping there'd be a Gargoyles world where you'd meet the whole gang, and you'd find Aya Brea teaming up with Eliza to investigate the Heartless (I mean it's not too ridiculous considering that Aya is a Nomura character) If KH2 does indeed come out, I do hope they add SOMETHING Gargoyles related (Goliath as a summon, or Demona as a boss)

Oh and did you know, ironically in a sense, the voice of Milo for the Atlantis series was James Arnold Taylor who did Tidus in FFX?

Yeah, I know what you mean, Goodman is a good actor, but he doesn't sound right as Baloo, they should've gotten the guy who did his voice in Tale Spin.

Osment reminds me of the original Mowgli voice, but you're right, it would be weird if in KH2, you go to the Jungle Book world and playing as Sora, they use the same two voices. It would be...weird 0_o

word to lion king - that's been one of my favorite movies for a long time. I hope I can see it again now that its been re-released on IMAX screens.

aladdin is one of my favorites too, maybe because the soundtrack was so great and robin williams stole the show.

my third favorite disney flick is the emperor's new groove - I'm surprised this is even a disney movie, all the dry david spade humor is soooo funny. and kronk is probably the awesomest disney villain... if you can even call him that.

I MISS GARGOYLES!!!! hands down the best animated tv series ever (barely beating out batman beyond). no non-anime animated tv series had anything close to the awesome animation, story, and voice acting that gargoyles had. I wonder if I can find any gargoyle eps on kazaa...

I just wanted to say I thought the Peter Pan sequel was ok (saw it in theatres) and I'm a Disney fan too (Sleeping Beauty is #1 and Beauty and the Beast #2 on my list). I love Kim Possible. I bought Love Hina vol. 8 manga and was looking at the long list of manga titles that are gonna be released by Tokyo pop and thought I'd mention there was a few Disney ones mentioned, including Monsters, Inc. and Kim Possible.

Disney had a brief era of greatness, from Little Mermaid to Lion King. After that they went downhill.

They also need to stop making those stupid "Get <insert movie title> now, because we're not making it ever again!" commercials, since we know they'll just bring it back eventually.

Tell me about it! Those commercials are just insulting our intelligence.

I remember when I bought Pinochio on video in...I think '86, and 3 years later they re-released it "for the first time ever on video". They did the same thing again a few years later.

Have never been a Disney fan, cause I can never wrap my head around the concept of musicals. Frankly I always think a Disney film is going to be a musical. So when it was loudly proclaimed that Lilo & Stitch was NOT a musical, was in Hawaii - Lived there as a kid -, and really dug the art style. Needless to say I enjoyed it a lot.

Also got handed a copy of Aladdin. Once again, hate musicals, but c'mon Robin Williams at his best could make you like a Abba opera.

Those are the only two Disney films I've had any desire to see. But did enjoy some of the series, I especially liked Duck Tales. That one seemed to get all the things right for an afternoon cartoon.

My problem with Disney is that they always lived by their reputation, but unlike Warner Bros cartoons, they didn't really have a reputation that younger people would know. For younger kids, Mickey Mouse in person is a 7 foot rodent with a mouth big enough to swallow them whole. While quite a few have seen Bugs, Daffy, & Porky. Making a new franchise like Lilo & Stitch works for them. While Treasure Planet looked like a lame marketing person's attempt to cash in on the appeal of extreme sports.

Even when I consider myself anti-Disney because they treat children as stupids, I like many Disney movies: all of them are pre-Lion King.

My favourites are:

- The Jungle Book (masterpiece)
- Great mouse Detective (That's the Basil one, no?)
- The Aristocats
- The Black Cauldron (I've only seen it once, when I was a kid, but liked it very much)
- Beauty and the Beast (great)

Aladdin was funny, Lion King was only technically impressive, and the next, I haven't even bothered to see them.

All this is just my interpretation, but Disney animation seems to fall into three periods: the one where Walt was directly involved, the middle years epitomized by Don Bluth, and the modern Disney stuff that was kicked off with "The Little Mermaid." For my money the original stuff that Walt was doing -even when it didn't fully work- was at least very inventive, beautifully put together and unlike anything that had ever been done before. The Bluth stuff can go hang. The modern stuff can often fall into predictable routines as far as story and characters go but when the creators are allowed free reign [such as with "Lilo and Stitch"] and don't try to make a movie according to a flow chart or some sort of ridiculous high concept idea [such as with "Treasure Planet"] the results can be quite good. Still, I have no idea what to make of the upcoming "Bears" or "Home on the Range" but any studio that once made "Three Caballeros" is one I have to stick with.

They don't say "we're never making it again" they say "it's going back in the Disney vault for 10 years." I believe this is to increase demand on the movies.

It doesn't seem very well inforced (since dispite it "being locked in the vaulut" my local Sun Coast still has several hundred copies of Snow White:Platnium Edition) but before the DVD came out you couldn't find Beauty and the Beast anywhere, try and find a copy of Aladdin or Sleepying Beauty too, even Pinochio is impossible to find.

But given a few years they'll be back (billed as "for the first time on Disney DVD!") and then a few months after that Disney will threaten to lock them up in the vault, robbing your future children of a chance to see it (unless you rent it, but that doesn't count) unless you rush out and buy it NOW!

It probably is a cinemanga, but I'll get it too. I love Kim Possible. It's listed for March 2003. Does anyone know the release date yet for Sleeping Beauty on DVD!? I know it's supposed to come out this year (advertised on the Beauty and the Beast DVD) and it is my absolute favorite Disney movie so I need to know!

March,eh? I can't wait for January to end... for February and March are were it's at! Full of Chirs Bailey/Steven Silver animated fun at the comic shops they are!

If it's a cinemanga I'm really looking forward to it (because I know Disney will never release a real DVD set, so having every episode in comic form is just as good)

I wish I knew the releas date... but what I really want to know is if Disney will consider it a "Platnium Edition" like Snow White and Beauty and the Beast, or if it will just be "Special Edition" like Atlantis and Emperor's New Groove. (I don't think there's really a difference, but "Platnium" is what their best movies are called and dammit! Malificent deserves a Platnium Edition for being so cool!)

Like all studio's, I have a love/hate realtionship with Disney's releases. I love some, don't care for others, and down right hate some other stuff...:)

But I must say this, if they DARE make a Snow White 2, then I will start some justified Disney hate. You just don't sequal some films, and Snow White is one you don't sequal. You have been warned...(Apply same to Bambi too...Though Bambi vs Godzilla 2 would rock..).

Oh, and release Spirted Away wide please...I really wanna see this on a big screen. I REALLY DO...:)

Bleah, I hate stuff like that. Sometimes it's just good enough to leave well enough alone. Plus it's a good way to ruin a good film...

Which brings up my beef with some directors cuts. While I appreciate that some film makers (and justifiably so) like to tinker or alter films once released, I do wish some directors would leave some films alone. See ET (Guns cut out) and Star Wars for example of Directors going too far in changing their views to the point of ruining their films...

Sad thing is, I don't think we'll see the orginal Star Wars films again. Lucas has stated the Special Edition films will be the ones hitting DVD...

Actually the Special Edition are gone too... on the DVDs we'll be getting the "Extra Speical Editions" with changes made to make the Good Triology match up better with the shitty new one (among the confirmed additions: Amadalia footage will be inserted in Return of the Jedi)

Thank god for computers! Remember when directors COULDN'T go back and run their movies? Man, how dreadful a time was that!
