IGN still says Link (Zelda) is going to be in
the NGC-version of the game- if that's true, the situation is very clear to me. I mean who could they put instead in the other versions? Master Chief or Blinx in the X-box-version?
The gangster from "the getaway" in the PS2-part?

Hmm... I wasn't very impressed with Soul Calibur 2 in the arcades. It seemed like Soul Calibur Lite, with Dreamcast graphics. Unless there's something notable added to the home version, I'll probably not bother and just play my Dreamcast copy when I need a fix.

Arcade version of SC2 didn't impress me much either, but I guess if I had to get it for GC/PS2/XB, I'd get whichever one that keeps the original Japanese voices. 'cause arcade version's English dub was just so... Bleh!!

I was kinda indifferent to SC2 as well in the arcade. Played it a few times, and just shrugged my shoulders. Same ol' thing it seemed with the same end boss, but in new clothes.

I want my VF4 Evo machine back!

No ones extras going to be in the PS2 and XBox ports, because Namco doesn't love them! (and if Link is in the GCN version it's because of the Triforce board team-up Namco, Sega, and Nintendo have...)

I'll probably get the Gamecube port, since it might link to Soul Calibur Advance in addition to the possiblity of Link being in the game. (hmmm... maybe Namco will make the link required to gain access to Link... would make sense since Nintendo REALLY wants 3rd parties to use the GBA-GCN Link more.)

If Link is in the GC version I'll definitely get that one.

I'm still looking forward to the home release, even though the game didn't exactly blow me away in the arcades. But hey, it's a fighting game sequel. What can you expect? Heh.

The graphics were a step up from DC graphics though, nothing drastic but it's there. And the way that you can move around while in different stances is cool, I think juggling was toned down a bit.

I'm still looking forward to it.

why would link be in the GC version, when he has no tie-ins with the game's story at all?

just like the other versions..why?

The port will probably be better than the arcade as it was the case with part 1, more modes and other extras.

I wonder what they will do with conquest mode. Maybe an online mode?

I still don't trust that rumor of Link in SC2, but it's not like it'll be the first time Namco pulled such stunt...

Remember Gon in Tekken 3?

Disregarding Link's being in the GC port being true or not, just thinking about it for a while gives me chills. A realistic-looking Link, with a highly detailed character model, with two or more designs ('cause I assume the different costumes for characters in SC2 are still total revamps instead of some simple palette swap?). Hey, at least those who were disappointed with Kaze no Takuto's graphical orientation will have something to salivate over. ^_^; IF it turns out to be true, that is. I for one hope that it will...

Depends on which version is best content-wise/AV wise. I'm thinking about the PS2 version, since that was the original arcade hardware I believe. Will give it a rent before buying though, since I haven't played it in the arcades.

Do any one of you, gentle folks handle the release dates for this game?? I do need the PS2 Pal version release date.

Considering the huge evolution that Soul Calibur went through from arcade to Dream Cast we should keep our hopes high; I thought that Tekken 3 had many extras but Soul Calibur just beat the crap out of it in the footage department; no to mention that it also vanquish TTT & Tekken 4 in the same feature.

"Speaking of SC's gallery..." , posted Fri 10 Jan 23:05post reply

Once upon a time, when I felt a little adventurous, I discovered that the gallery in SC is nothing but a big fat bunch of JPEGs (yes, you heard me right) and went about ripping them all out of their safe nest called kgallery.dat. I had these images on display (all 338 of them, plus some extras) for a while, but the site died on me and I haven't bothered putting them back up again. Would anyone here be interested in me doing so, and if so, could you recommend where?

(all images have been left untouched, so they're 100% as they appear in the game)

if your going to buy SC2 simply because of a "guest" character, then your buying it for the wrong reasons.

I would, although I would be just as appreciative if you just said what program you used to extract the images.

Which is to say, very appreciative.

Great info! I will have to find some bootleg version of the game so I can get the file....

Does anyone know when the PS2 version will be released?

So far as I know, there has been no official word about a home release date for Soul Calibur 2. I've heard rumors ranging from "Q1 2003" to "November 2003," but I can't really put any faith into any of them.

I want the game. I only have GC. It's clear, no?
Adding Link would be great, but I'll buy it nonetheless.

The GC may get link, but for someone who has no love for anything much Nintendo, that doesn't do much for me. But I keep reading the rumor that the extra character for the PS2 version will be SPAWN! Read it again in the new Official Playstation Mag. If that is true, my curiousity will be piqued to see Spawn done in those graphics.

P.S. I recommend taking a look at the issue. I got it for the demo of Def Jam Vendetta, but it also has a demo for The Getaway, and another Rachet & Clank demo. Some nice pics of Final Fantasy X-2 that you've seem elsewhere too.

Spawn?! Wow considering he's played out("Ooooh look at me I'm all tourment!" that is soooo 1991!) and last I checked Capcom held the rights to him in Gameform it would be impressive for him to appear in Soul Calibur 2

I'm impressed he's in... but he's still played out!
