I just got back from a local game store that imports and I was shocked to see three very special fighting games for the DC. Super Street Fighter 2 X with matching service, Vampire Chronicals with matching service and KOF2K1. The problem is I don't know which to get and they are all $60. I was thinking that maybe my mom can get them in the Philippines for cheaper, but they might be copied games and these three games are ones I want to support with my money.

I was thinking that maybe SSF2X might be good since it came with game saves for other Capcom games correct? And wasn't Vampire Chronicles super rare? Or KOF2k1, well its KOF. WHICH DO I CHOOSE?

SSFIIX doesn't has those saves, it's the Capcom fan disk that has them.
If I had to chose between the 3, I would pick Vampire without even thinking twice. KOF 2001 is bad, SSFIIX is old, and Vampire is my favorite fighting game even now 7 years after its release (and even though this version doesn't have endings, damn you Capcom!). Apart from that, it's hyper rare and very, very good. You have to like Vampire, that's it. Anakaris, best character ever created.

Wow... tough choice. If you have Vampire Savior on Saturn, then you don't need Vampire Chronicles. It's essentially the same game. SSF2x is an amazing game (my personal fav SF) and the DC port is the closest made so far. KoF2k1, while certainly not the best KoF and not a perfect port (minor sound hiccups), is still definitely worth a purchase.

Oh, and I dunno if this simplifies or complicates things, but you can get SSF2x or VC from Tronix (http://www.tronixweb.com) for $48 + shipping (about 5-6 bucks cheaper).

Anything else?

I used to have the Saturn version of Vampire Savior, and I gladly would have ditched it for Vampire Chronicles ( it's a moot point now, though ). I really like how Vampire Savior plays, and I like the characters.. but I can't stand the music. I'd get Vampire Chronicles just to be able to play in the stages from the earlier games, in which I can actually cope with the music.

Anyway, for the actual discussion, I'd probably shoot for Vampire Chronicles.

I'd get Vampire Chronicles only because it's super rare!

You can probably get those other games some other time, especially KOF2k1.

It sounds to me like you're going to get one of them just because they're rare. On that basis I don't think you should get any of them. Vampire is better on Saturn, Super Street Fighter is an imperfect port to DC and KoF2k1, I hear, is fairly poor. Save your money and don't buy anything just because it's rare. Buy it because you want to play it.

What did the Capcom fan disc come with or was it sold by itself?

So KOF is supposed to be a bad port? I might try the ROM for a bit to see if it is worth my purchase.

So far VC sounds like the best purchase. It would be good to play some Darkstalkers again. I was planning to get the SSF2X because I thought the saves were a good deal because a couple of my games need saves like my JPN MvC2. Or is there a free ISP that the DC supports that I can use? I also heard VC had an english option is that true?

It came with the DC version of Capcom vs SNK 2 (first 20,000 prints?)

GameFAQs should have links to download saved games.

No. I've just checked it to make sure. Sorry.
Vampire Savior for Saturn did have the choice for English option, though.

Unfortunatly, Chronicles has 2 major drawbacks : no ending ( = NO BULLETA ENDING!!) and no stages from the previous games. The musics of the past games are there, the fighters (good old Pyron!) but no stage. Lazyness at its best. Not to mention that neither Amingo nor Ruby were added, they are made to be in this series but noooo, it's so much better to keep them in MvC2 only...TT___TT
And about the capcom fan Disk... It had the complete saves for all the fighting games Capcom did on DC until CvS2 (with some really usefull saves, like a Power Stone 2 save with each item available) and the arts of Shinkirô and Nishimura for CvS 1&2 (plus other CvS art, like the commercials, the covers, etc). All are in really good quality, with zooms, when you look a character you have his theme directly from his original game (Esaka 94, Abandonned Chateau, etc) but... well... nearly all the characters are awfull. One day, maybe, I'll understand why they didn't made a Edayan or CRMK vs Hiroaki instead of... of this.

Hmmm... I can do without endings ( I hardly ever play single-player, anyway ) but no stages? Well, at least the music is there... damnation, I had heard it featured the stages from Darkstalkers and Night Warriors. Blast.

So which KoF is the one to get for the DC - 2K or 2K1? Is the 2K1 port so broken that 2K is the better option?

I didn't read the rest of the thread because my attention span is too short right now.

V.C. has no story/endings. It is like a dream match, although it kicks ass over a KOF dream match because, as far as I know, it has every character with versions from each game, and every background image. You can change the game play rules to those of a particular game.

V.C. rare?
V.C. originally was sold only through Capcom directly, but what I heard is that they re printed it after that.

Matching service
Matching service will probably run out if it hasn't already. I assume you'd have to connect to a Japanese network to get the matching service going and play against other players. Eventually who ever runs those services tends to discontinue them.

I only have a copy of V.C., so if I were to get one now I'd get S.S.F.2.X.. If I had neither I'd get V.C., because Capcom makes too many versions of S.F.. So I would get V.C. in protest of their sequelitice.

Buy based on which game you prefer. The 2k1 port is NOT broken enough to warrant not purchasing it. If you prefer 2k1, buy it. If not, buy 2k. A winner is you either way.

Rarity shouldn't really factor into the decision... if you like Vampire, you'll buy the game, but if not, what's the point of picking it up just 'cause it's hard to find?

Haven't played KOF2k1 yet, unfortunately. The DC SSF2X is probably a pretty good deal, though. SSF2X is still an awesome game, one of my all-around favorite fighters ever. I was really pissed that the GBA version has all-new character art and an ugly GUI, and some STRANGE choices in level changes. Especially the Guile one, but... anyway, I guess it all comes down to personal preference. Arcade perfect SSF2X on DC would be pretty nice. Hell, I gotta consider picking that up for myself if I ever see it on eBay sometime.

I loved VC when I had it. Look at Gamefaqs and find my review for VC under Midnight. That should answer some questions.

Wait for KOF 2002 for dc!!!! ^^

None of your mentioned games are worth to buy it. And what is vampire???

I played KOF 2k1 on dc its really bad port.
The slowdown and many graphic faults are annoying. I won't give a cent for ssf2x. :(
