Basically, Sony has to pay Nintendo 2.3 Billion dollars because they jointly own the "Playstation" name. Damn!

Nintendo is going to use the money to fund a development studio comprised of top Japanese game developers. They're gonna make games for the Gamecube, of course.

Its funny how Nintendo gave birth to its largest competitor. Now the prodigal son has to pay its parent a lot of cash for being born and being successful. And lets not forget Sega. Once arch enemies, now best friends. The videogame industry is wierd!

The industry is weird. And when I say weird I mean being capable of anything (rivalries with allies, alliances with rivals, etc) just to earn more, to sell more....

Why I'm I getting so anticapitalist lately?

Ah, yes -- when you put petty emotions aside to look at the economic factor, anything is possible! (Whee...!)

Don't worry -- should you need them: in the classes I'm taking, I'm learning how to intellectually smack down communism. (Heh heh heh...! And it'll be fun to do on this university campus... )

Intellectually smack down people.... If that's what you are learning, then instead of paying college you better buy me a drink...
¬_¬.

Indeed, a strange world is the one we inhabit; many times I can recall that many people that was once my sworn enemy have later approached me asking for favours... Of course that instead of granting their requests I collect their vital organs in several recipients, but I think that you get what I'm saying -if that's possible-

Shoot! I meant that in an exaggerated matter -- sorry, I didn't mean to sound serious... so, don't worry. ^_^ That's definitely not the reason I'm at college, and it's not directly what I'm learning -- it's just arguments that I can come up with, with psychological and mathematical factors. (And, I don't instigate -- it's just that there are several times when I've had radical propaganda shoved down my throat, and I haven't been able to give objective reasons as to why I disagree, so I normally remain silent.)

But, no -- I'm here so that I can get a job; I'm aiming to be mainly dealing with mathematics and statistics. [Economics itself is the study of how people with unlimited quantifiable wants (say, food for every day that you live) manage limited resources) -- or also how quantifiable wants might increase utility. But it doesn't have to be involved politically. Sorry I was taking the thread off-topic that way.]

ANYWAY, the video games business rivalries! Think of it this way -- if someone else had something you need to survive (e.g., resources to support a console on which you can develop software), and you value your survival over a rivalry, you'd do what you can to befriend 'em, no? (Sorta speaking with random words here -- but you get the idea, right?)

I didn't meant to say that that your studies are worthless; I was saying that psychological damage is my field of expertise...

Monkey told you that.

It's complete B.S, folks. If there was any shred of legal truth to this Nintendo would of sued long ago, and the news would hit major news sources and what not (Given the level of the settlement and what not).

This is just more internet rumor mongering, so run along now. Nothing to see here...
