I don't think I've read an account of the Street Fighter story as succenct as this:

http://www.trenchman.com/features/streetfighter.html

Although there's no sources given other than "Capcom". It would be better if they had foot notes or something like that that gave specific books and so forth.

"The chronology of the games is as follows: Street Fighter 1 happened first, followed by Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter 2 (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo supercedes every other version of Street Fighter 2, storyline-wise) and Street Fighter 3. The first Street Fighter Alpha doesn't really count; it is, according to Capcom, superceded by Street Fighter Alpha 2. Jeez, what a continuity mess. "

arg! no!

"Most of the stories don't fit very well with what Capcom has created, but they do seem to be fond of the various Street Fighter manga series that they've licensed--to the point where they've actually taken characters from the manga. Spoiled rich girl Karin, Sakura's rival, is an example of this. "

what?? What's this manga?

"The Russian wrestler Zangief, according to Capcom, is gay. "

The funny thing is, is that Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival for GBA changed around the endings *again* in order to better comply with the Street Fighter Alpha continuity.

I don't hold much stock in the gay Zangief thing. His bio says he dislikes pretty young girls, but doesn't really extrapolate on that, as far as I know. He might prefer older women, or he just might be shy and intimidated by pretty girls. Certainly it's okay if he's gay, but I don't think Capcom would specifically declare him as such since it's largely irrelevant compared to the rest of his personality/storylines. If Capcom did specifically state this, I'd like to know where, preferably in the All Aboot Capcom book.

Zangeif probably dislikes pretty young girls for the same reason Worf from ST doesn't like earth women. He'd snap 'em in two.

(btw that will be the only Star Trek reference I will ever make)

Zangief IS gay.

I'm just saying that to torment you guys. Even though I think it would COOL if he was (which I think he is) but anyway...

"Eaten a good book lately?" Q to Worf. One of my favorite Star Trek lines.

I think it might be the same manga that they got Evil Ryu from. I haven't seen the manga, but I know they got him from a SF manga somewhere.

I don't believe the "gay Zangief" thing... didn't he like Rainbow Mika??? Just because he doesn't like "pretty young girls" doesn't mean he doesn't like girls at all.... Ah, well. It's up to you whether you believe stuff like that or not. I don't really care about Zangief's preference, but I don't think he's gay. It's been a while since I've seen Mika's ending from SFA3, but I thought her and Zangief kind of liked each other.

Zangief respects Mika but he's not attracted to her (that would make him a pedophile...) Zangief IS gay. From what I heard, a few character specific victory quotes say things that are a little more suggestive. Ask TiamatRoar.

Oooo, there's another person that knows about the Zangief is gay thing? ...hey, wait a minute. This information and even the opinion stuff looks awfully familiar. Wow, I'm surprised he even copied the opinions. The facts are open source but copying the opinions is kinda silly. Ah well, whatever.

Anyways, Zangief being gay is directly stated in the Official Street Fighter 2 Fanbook, which like any remotely credible source (except maybe http://db.gamefaqs.com/coinop/misc/file/street_fighter_plot.txt , but even that has to be constantly corrected), is in Japanese. It's not in All About Capcom, for some reason (AAC doesn't have all the details of the SF universe, anyways, though it does have nearly all of it). There are other CIRCUMSTANTIAL implication evidence pieces in his win quotes and such that he's gay, but no actually hard core in-game proof that I know of that I could draw out to prove beyond a doubt that he's gay. The circumstantial evidence is no where near Eagle's level, either.

EDIT

Oh yea, Mika and Zangief definately are not a couple. You can tell that from their dialogues with each other alone. If she were in love with him, she wouldn't say something like "Someday I'll tell my children about my meeting with you!", after all.

And if they were a couple, Zangief would finish the game with her... But in his scenario, he ends up with Honda (who is definitely NOT a young fragile girl)

Karin first appeared in the 2-volume manga, Sakura Ganbaru! by Nakahira Masahiko. This manga was published prior to the release of SFZERO3, and included appearances by Cammy and Blanka -- 2 characters who returned to the SF series in SFZ3, having been absent from the series since SSFIIX. Perhaps CAPCOM liked Nakahira's ideas so much that they incorporated them into their games, or perhaps CAPCOM knew well in advance which characters they planned to bring back and simply asked/instructed Nakahira to include these characters in his manga. Satsui no Hadou ni mezameta Ryu [Ryu, awakened to the Hadou of Murderous Intent (usually called "Evil Ryu" in the U.S.)] appeared in Nakahira's 2-volume manga, Street Fighter ZERO (published prior to Sakura Ganbaru!).

I was extremely worried when I entered this thread, but at least it seems he has chosen some good sources ^_^.

Every single one who posts the true story counts, I guess...

OK, so pedophile might be a stretch but she isn't an adult yet. (16 or so like most other SF girls.)

Gen - First of all, Hi everybody! I'm new here, although I post regularly at Shoryuken.com.

Gen - I've contacted the person who created that website and even he admitted that he typed that site a while back and his chronology is off. The real Chronology works like this - first it's SF1, then SFA2, SFA3, SF2 Revival, SF3 Second Impact and then SF3 Third Strike. If you want to read a WAY better SF plot Guide, go to the Address Tiamatroar listed above.

Well, I guess that's good enough for me, unless there's more revisionist history with that, which I doubt.

I wonder if Capcom ever specifically stated that Eagle was gay, or instead is going for something like the whole Smithers thing.

I don't think Japanese schoolgirls wear outfits that outrageous that early in their wrestling careers, but then again, I could be wrong. *glance at Rival Schools Tiffany*

Though anyways, Mika's age is most likely around 22 to 26, I think. Young enough to not be a pro-wrestler in the big times yet but old enough to start training to be one, commission her own trainer, talk to someone about the children she'll have some day, and dislike "Younger people without manners" in her bio.

I don't think Capcom ever stated that Eagle was gay (hard to tell when there haven't been many official fanbooks published since 2000 that I know of) though him telling Morrigan that she can't seduce him alone pretty much clinches it.
