I would kill for a Japanese mook translated into English.
Honestly, I wish Capcom Japan would kick Capcom USA's ass. Really, all Capcom USA products are inferior. All of the licenced products are inferior to their Japanese counterparts- by a large margin!
I have the official Japanese CvS2 guide and it puts to shame the Brady Game's CvS2 guide by an ENORMOUS margin. The Jap CvS2 guide has all the attack animations of all the characters, plus the execution, hit and recovery duration of all the moves. Plus info on whether the move is cancellable (normal, special and super.) Plus a ton more stuff that I cannot understand cause I can't read Japanese. Anyway, if Capcom USA would just get the rights to all of the Japanese guides and mooks, translated them and sold them, they probably would make a TON more money then with these crap Brady guides.
Enough ranting. I think we should all start a letter writing campaign to Capcom Japan, telling them that we love their video game franchises as much as their Japanese consumers, but we are utterly dissatisfied with Capcom USA's work. #@$*@#^$*@^#$! This ticks me off so much!

In my opinion the only american publication that has gotten close to a Japanese mook is the GameFan strategy guides. I have the Darkstalkers 2 one, kicks arse.
I do agree with writting mail to Capcom JP, even if it gets ignored.

The problem is with the whole damn guide industry! They pack them with screenshots on shiny color paper, give a minimal walkthrough and a few blurbs for minigames and secrets, and that's that. It used to be better, particularly in the SNES days of Prima, with the Secret of Mana and Breath of Fire guides. Never saw many fighting game guides in those days, though. PC game guides are still thick 'n' juicy with info, formulas for calculating damage, and inside jokes, but that's mainly because they can easily get information directly from the English-speaking developers. Still, even those are getting thinner. Currently, with Prima and Brady as they are, we'll rarely get actual decent guides. If you'll excuse me, I will now clutch my FFX Ultimania Guide and KOF 2001 Mook and weep softly.
