They were lucky to get the cart. From working at BlockBuster I know that some companies are supposed to ditch certain things if they sign a disposal. It's for tax reasons as to why they can't sell it to you after they have signed. It really sucks.

That's where the magic of dumpster diving comes in...

Sounds more to me like they got a better deal than they were willing to get. Just salvaging saved em up to $300.

Indeed; assambling the "external" part of the machine can be very cheap; I remember that here they selled machines for about $20 without a motherboard & a game (even though monitors are expensive); the full pack with kof 94' was for about $200... Too bad I wasn't saving money on that moment.
