quote: how do i define a cheap boss? if i've gotta adjust my fighting style completely to defeat him (for example, if my attacks mainly consist of tripping and throwing, or any other repetitive attacks), and i have to exploit any bugs or errors in the boss's attack pattern, then something's up. i either suck at the game or i'm fighting an extremely overpowered character
That's more or less my definition of a cheap boss, but I'd add the part about how they use unblockable overpowered moves all the time... KOF's the worst about this. Testament and Dizzy (I think that's her name, but it's been a while) are insane, too. Basically, I think Testament's cheap because he's got those pink things that bite you in the ass while he shoots projectiles in your face... The two ultra Bisons in SF Alpha 3 on Dreamcast were some of the top cheapest I've ever fought, too. They've got unlimited supers that fill the entire screen and can only be blocked while your feet are on the ground. One comes up and stomps your foot at the same moment the other's winding up for unblockable hell. I can ramble on for days about this subject, but I'll cut it off here.

hehehe man, speak of the devil, i fought those two [Testament and Dizzy] a few minutes ago. i think to those who are new to the game, they'd be incredibly hard to defeat. when the computer uses them, their damage is INSANE. Dizzy's "ice thing" (uh, HS) does so much freakin' damage! and god the supers ... THE SUPERS!! T_T but when a human uses them, they just do "normal" damage. they're not too bad
anyways, it took us over 3 hours to defeat Testament the first time i got the game x_x if you give the guy space, he'll definitely destroy you. but he's a slow guy with pretty slow normals. if you get on top of him and don't get off, he'll fall eventually. i especially learned that yesterday -_- i thought i was good with Testament but my friends would not get off of me and i had to do stupid crap to win (like i mentioned above, i spent most of my time timing my throws, then kicking them when they were down, or doing my "poison super" before they hit the ground)
as for Dizzy, my god, dude, her meter fills up so quickly. but i've found a couple of ways past her supers (even that crazy 30+ hit "unblockable" super). she is, unfortunately (if you're fighting her, that is), a lot faster than Testament
man, Bison (Psycho Crusher Vega) wouldn't be so bad in SFA3 if it weren't for that damn super. you can't jump at all when he's got a meter x_x

quote: Gil pisses me off since once his power meter fills, you either have to just turtle and wait for him to do a super, or kill him and then let him cast resurection and fight him again on one life bar.
I don't mind hard last bosses. SFA3 PSX Bison is hard, but certainly not too cheap except for his Psyco Crusher where you have to be blocking on the ground or you get hit for 70% damage (although he IS a last boss so it doesn't bother me that much.)
The Bison I was talking about was the dual super Bison fight if you get to the "secret" fight in World Tour mode in the Dreamcast version. They're at the last of three consecutive fights: first one with Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu, then a survival match against several of those two, THEN the two Bisons. When it's a single boss Bison in the normal game, it's not that bad. But the TWO of them at the end of World Tour (with unlimited super meters, of course) takes FOREVER to beat. I've had them literally fire off super after super (the big Psycho Crusher) over and over until they've managed to kill me. THAT IS CHEEEEEAAAAAP!!!
As for Gil, once I figured something out, he's not that rough anymore. Save a super gauge or two when you've almost got him beat. When you knock him down and he screams "RESURRECTION!!!" and starts refilling his health, unleash any super that goes across the screen (ex.: Ryu's super fireball). You'll basically hit him out of his super and he'll only really get about half of his life back (or less, if you're quick enough). You can't try to run up and hit him because he pushes you back, but supers get through.
Man, Testament and Dizzy took me forever to beat too. Finally, after a couple hours, I'd get pissed and just try one-hit kills until I beat them. It eventually works. I'm good at fighting games, but those two make me want to tear my hair out.

quote: oh yeah! i remember those World Tour Bisons! i guess it's our fighting styles, but strange enough, i usually can't get past the "Dark Hadou team" but when i reach the Bisons, i do just fine
DEAR GOD, THEY'RE EVIL!!! You must have fought them when they were in a good mood, because those Bisons went apesh*t on me. I'd get to where Akuma and Ryu didn' t give me too much trouble, then WHAM! the Bisons would show up and kill me. They'd both run up, one would punch me in the face while the other swept my legs out from behind me, and as soon as my feet were an inch off the ground, they'd fire that super off. If, somehow, they missed, they'd just go ahead and try again right after. And again. And again... until one of them hit me. I was only able to beat them with Akuma, and if I could get a Hell Murder on one of them as soon as possible. I finally got them both after MAAAAANY tries.

very cool!! i've never seen these before! thanks a lot!
now more questions come to mind .. - is Sol the one that took down Justice? - that symbol on Sol's forehead (usually covered by that head gear), is it the same that's on Baiken's forehead?
speaking of Baiken, wow, what a drastic change in look from GG1. i guess the two artists saw her differently and May .... creepy girl! something wicked about her ... the GGXX artist must've modeled his May off of the GG1 artist's May. i do like her tanned skin. makes her look more, uh, "pirate-ish" (you know, pirates spend a lot of time in the sun)
(oh yea, i'm just assuming GG1, GGX, and GGXX had different artists. i mean, the styles are all so different. i wish i could find more of their work in non-mook form @_@)
