Trivia tidbit: I seem to recall that back in its (more) stupid days, Squaresoft USA was going to bring out the SFC version of FF V under the name of FF X-treme. The 'X-treme' no doubt would have doomed it to failure. ^^ And the awful translation along with it, possibly the same one that came with the PS version? Funny when everything was going to be Xtreme. Sonic Xtreme....

Meanwhile, I have to admit that while Rikku's wearing a skirt over a bikini is questionable, and Yuna's outfit would be cool if not for the cut down the middle, the drawings for those three figures, Sanoh, Laprun (I think I saw the proper version of her name somewhere, forgot it), and Usoh, very impressive. Poor Ultimecia never got a chance to go with the max-slit sorceress theme for very long (and there was never any character sketch for her), so this looks interesting.

And when I stop to think, who am I to complain about Yuna? FF IV's Rosa barely wore more, Tina was in a battle bikini for reasons no one knew, and Lenna had the same thing as Rosa. It's just easier to forget since their non-Amano short people sprites were so small!

I think that's " Rupran/Lupran " and " Uno " ( Unoh/Unou, if you like. It's a long sound. )

You know, if it was brought out back then a lot less people would think it was that awful, and people wouldn't be laughing as much for the fact that the main bad guy used to be a tree (and maybe Gilgamesh would be as popular as Shadow).

In Weekly Jump, it was spelled "Le Branc", but maybe it was actually supposed to be "Le Blanc".
As for "Uno" and "Sano", their names probably come from "right brain" / "left brain" in Japanese.

Ya, you're right...shoulda looked at the names they had written beside them. Looking at Unoh and Sanoh remind me of Salton and Sugarloo (aka Solt and Peppor) from Chrono Cross...there's definitely unusual chara design there for the guys...more than Tidus' wacky pants, to be sure~
