got link from Fran on Neo-geo.com bbs At the risk of raising someone's ire for directing you to a previous post on the topic, please see this earlier post: http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~mmcafe/forums/bbs/messages/14050.shtml for some comments on this CD (and a track listing). Just remembered this thing went on sale in Japan yesterday. I should have my copy by the end of the month; I'll post my thoughts on the CD as soon as I have it.

hehehe redirecting with caution this time
anyways, hey, Dash no Chris, yes, i'll be looking forward to your opinions on the '02 sound track! and if you can, the comparison of some of the "new songs" to their "old ones"
that's ost, right? still, i'm wondering how a couple of themes will sound like, especially Arashi no Saxophone 2, Beauty & the Beast, and Tears. i remember watching a video of kof2k2. imo, they did a horrible mix of Tears -_- but it was just a crappy video. i don't think i can really tell until i hear it myself

quote: I notice they still make a point that it's an " original " sound track. It's a slim chance, but maybe they'll start making " arranged " sound tracks again..
They also called the KOF'01 CD "King of Fighters 2001 Original Sound Trax," but they never released an Arrange Sound Trax CD (or a Drama CD) for '01. KOF'00 was the last KOF to get an AST and Drama CD. It was also the last KOF to credit Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan (SNK's music team) with the work on the soundtrack. I suspect the lack of Shinsekai's involvement with KOF'01 was due to the changes in the companies behind the production of the game series itself; without Shinsekai, an AST CD is much less likely. As far as the lack of a KOF'01 Drama CD goes, this was probably also due to the changes in companies developing the series. Scitron Discs released 2 Guilty Gear X Drama CDs in 4Q 2001, but Sammy/Arc Systems were probably in a much more financially secure position at that time than either SNK or Eolith -- there probably just wasn't room in the budget of either company for a KOF'01 Drama CD. I still haven't seen Shinsekai's name associated with the music in KOF'02, so I very much doubt that we'll see an AST. The involvement of Playmore in the last year, however, makes the possibility of a KOF'02 Drama CD a little more likely. I'd very much like to see both an AST and a Drama CD for KOF'02, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

quote: What's a drama CD?
A CD recording of an audio drama. Very similar to the old radio plays we used to have in the U.S. In the case of video game Drama CDs, a roughly 60-minute script (or, sometimes two 30-minute scripts) -- based on portions of a game's story -- is performed by voice actors. Sometimes these dramas are broadcast on Japanese radio prior to being released on CD, and sometimes they go on sale directly without a broadcast. Many, many anime series also have 1 or 2 Drama CDs, in addition to their soundtrack CDs. Currently, the limited editions of the 6-vol. Region-2 DVD series "Gatekeepers 21" include a bonus Drama CD with each DVD vol. (these Drama CDs tell other portions of the GK21 story not told in the course of the 6 animated episodes). Usually, though, an anime Drama CD is sold separately, just like an anime soundtrack CD.
