It's cheaper than the TV out mod if you already have a GC and a GBA. Sounds great.
I wonder how it works? Is it software emulation or the same hardware as the GBA in the adapter?
It occurs to me that an awful lot of trouble in Gotham City could have been averted a long time ago if Batman had just ripped the Joker's nipples off.
A man with the nipples ripped off him does not make the same mistakes twice.
I mean crime in Gotham City doesn't exactly seem to be affected by a man dressed as a bat flapping around the place. But no-one disobeys a man wearing a necklace of human nipples.
"I'm Batman" isn't cutting it in the striking-fear-into-their-hearts stakes. But "I'm Batman -- and I'm here for your nipples" is an entirely different proposition. -- Warren Ellis

Genesis used it with either the 32X or Sega CD. I believe there was also an SNES satalite adapter(jap only) similar to the Sega Channel that used nebulous expansion port.

Heh -- as I wasn't going to buy a GBA until I could also afford the TV-out adapter, this is actually great news for me! (Especially, given that my import shop sells the TV-out adapter, last time I checked, for US$90...)
... so, around US$190 plus tax for a GameCube that can play Game Boy Advance games on screen (and, given that I most likely won't be playing multiplayer with anyone)... great news indeed. :)

I paid $70 for my GBA. The adapter's converted price is $41.

Not that I don't appreciate the device, but I get the feeling it won't sell too well. A little more money gets you a full-fledged GBA (not to mention the changes in price between now and when we actually get to see it), which is completely portable.
Plus, there's no benefit to using this over a GBA. It won't simulate multiple GBA screens for multiplayer-capable games, and I somehow doubt you'll be able to use it for any GBA-GC hookup features (even the unlock features that the new Metroid games have).

The whole point of the device is to allow you to play GBA games on a gamecube. To most, the primary benefit of this would be the ability to play on a television screen.
I think this device will sell very well. As far as I'm aware, the SNES GB adapter did well, and this hardware has far more features.

I'd hope it had those features, atleast the Gamecube-linkup ones, that would be pretty lame if it didn't. 2 player on TV would be a nice extra feature. Normally GB games take 2 GBs for 2 players though, so the GC would probably just act as one GB of the two.

I'm interested simply because it allows you to play on the telly. I'm not a " hand-held " kind of guy; I don't know why ( although many handhelds have good games, so I'm compelled to buy them anyway.. )

Now you don't have to worry about dark colors in Castlevania: COTM or squinting to read the text in Goldensun.

The reason I never bought a gameboy was because of the only two colors, as Sega put it, Spinach and Cream, and the small, reflective, non backlit and generally hard to see screen. I'll start getting Game Boy games for myself for the first time, wow. Sense this new thing will let me play GB games on a big TV It would push me over the edge for getting a Game Cube also.

I'm game for this, as GBA action on a big screen is a winning combination. I just hope the resolution doesn't go to pot with the screen size change...

Yes, hopefully there will be an option to either stretch to full screen or maintain the aspect ratio.

quote:Game Boy Player supports several options. In default, it plays games with a border simulating a Game Boy Advance screen. You can set it to play games in full-screen and at different levels of resolution.
