I've never had this problem before. It's like everything I want to save ends up being in BMP format, not jpg or gif. And I don't know how to get it back to saving in jpg or gif. Can anyone help?

While browsing on internet? If that happens only in certain websites try refreshing (that button with circling arrows in the top) once before saving the images... if that doesn't helps... no idea...

Save the image. It will probably save as BMP. Open the BMP image in paint. Go to file, save as, resave it as a JPG or a GIF image. Then delete the BMP image.

If you've done it correctly you shouldn't have a problem anymore.

At least this is what I've done before. A LOT!

This has been happening here to. It only happens in Internet Explorer. Microsoft is an evil organization. Sometimes it will let me save one jpeg, then the 2nd jpeg and any others that I try to save, Microsoft only allows saves as .bmp and were not just talking about the file extension, it CONVERTS them to .bmp. The best solution is to not use evil Microsoft products. Download Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, or another company's less evil browser. I use Mozilla, and it lets me save jpegs as jpegs with no head aches. Mr. Karate hates Microsoft so much and he wants to see their corporate executives corpses paraded through the streets like Musalini.

Internet Explorer? Delete your Temporary Internet Files. It's documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but searching it for anything is near impossible.

"Tools" menu --> "General" tab --> "Delete Files..." button near the middle of the window.
