I voted for "No, not really". KOF2002 is a dream match, and there is no new characters or storyline to look out for, so it isn't anything new. I am just interested to see how good their revised game system and how well-balanced they promise the game to be - how they are going to create miracles yet on the 10+ years old MVS board. Cast? Heck, I believe at least 75% of them to be from KOF2001...even if Geese, Yamazaki and Billy return it is no surprise, its a dream match, and they had the fans to back them up for their return.
SNK vs Capcom...How are they going to top CVS2? Probably impossible - this is going to be kinda "experimental" just like CVS1...created for the sake of knowing the demands and critics of the players, taking those comments with them and improving it for the sequel. The fact that the KOF team is not behind this also makes me lose some of the little confidence in this game.
Can't think of any other game right now. Maybe I am not really a gaming person, but I do like to play fighting games though...

I voted for I guess. I would have to agree with The Beast on this one. I'm glad that there will be a KOF2k2 and SvC, butI don't know anything about SvC other than it'll be out by this time next year. As for KOF2k2, well, I think you may be right about most of the characters probably coming from KOF2001. I mean, think about it. It was A LOT of great characters. The thing about it is that with the recent KOF games being 4-on-4 it gave room for more character. When it was 3-on-3 it didn't leave as much so when they did a dream match it could have had more characters that hasn't been around in a while. Basically KOF2k2 better have most of the NESTS saga characters out. I wanna see some old characters back. Not the USA Team though. I don't know who or how it's gonna be done, but I really hope it's 3-on-3 with your partners in the background.
Freeter is right about SvC having the characters that should have been in CvS2. I mean, if they have an all-star cast, they don't necessarily have to do a sequel (even though they probably will), because they'll do it right the first time. As for gameplay, I really don't know how your gonna top CvS2 when it comes to that? I guess you can add the striker system to this game? If it's something brand new, then I guess that's ok as long as it's good. Oh, and the game better not be all that turtle friendly and play a little bit like KOF, if not completely like KOF.

See, CvS2 has 48 characters and you're saying that SvC could top CvS2 easily by adding the characters that people want?
That's impossible, SNK should have 48 characters plus the "characters people wants and Capcom didn't include in CvS2"...
I don't even think that SNK will have a roster larger than 40-45 chars. What does this mean? Even if SNK chooses the "favorites" there would always be characters left out, no matter how hard they try. I was satisfied with the CvS2 cast, even when I wanted Hugo, Alex, Q, Necro, K', Maxima and some others...
You have a limit of characters, you can't include all of the favorites, that's why saying SvC will top CvS2 easily just by adding the "favorites" is wrong, in my humble opinion of course...

I think you get the idea, no matter how hard you try, there would always be favorites out... your list seems pretty solid, but there's no such thing as "the majority favorites"...
Q isn't majorly popular. When CvS2 came out I didn't hear of anyone complaining about Q. Remy, well I heard a few, but when you have Guile you really don't need him. Oro and Necro....nah. Daigo and Kurow would be sweet for the sequel. Hayoato is a no need because you've got Ryu and Ken. Roy is already there anyway. He's like Terry and Ken put together. Zangief and Dhalsim...of all the characters that I've heard complaints about in CvS2 Dhalsim, E.Honda, Zangief, and Raiden where among the most. So I took them out. Added Haggar for Zangief.
Maxima....he'll be in the sequel.
I know that everyone has they're favorites, but if there wasn't a majority of favorites then there would be no point in doing a poll, and the mojority of the favorites are put in and the least are put out. If there was a poll for SvC, I'm betting a lot of the characters that I listed here would end up in that game, if not all of them.

i think robert and andy should be included in SNK vs Capcom. heck, they were left out of CvsS and CvsS 2 for godsake! you cant have terry and not have andy, you cant have ryo and not have robert. it would be like including ryu but not ken. i also think you should add krauser to that list, he's a classic FF boss, ofcourse this is just a matter of opinion.

i agree with most of your list. characters such as andy, robert, duck king, and billy kane are excellent choices, they should of been in CvsS ( like i already mentioned )to begin with. same with guy on the capcom side, he should of been in there in place of maki. i also think that shingo would of made a better match for dan. joe is too classic ( yes even though he's goofy), he started in FF, dan bearly made his apperance in the alpha/zero series.
the only characters i think you should include are krauser from SNK side, and fei long from the capcom side, every fighting game needs a bruce lee guy! just my oipnion.
now for a new twist, if capcom wanted to match up guys, they did it all wrong. they should of matched e.honda with cheng sin zan! that would of been cool. and think how cool it would of been if they matched yun and yang vs jade hoon and dang hwan, same with juni and juli vs vice and mature. i could go on and on. but i will leave it at that.

I agree totally. I am more than happy and surpised to see the stellar cast of CVS2. Capcom actually went all out to bring a slew of different and unique characters...Yes, they might not be that useful in battles (Kyosuke and Todoh are among the lower tiers) and they might not be that popular for players, but I really appreciate Capcom for bringing an unique cast that offers variety...Haohmaru slashing Morrigan was something I thought will never happen in the older days. In fact, it is this variety that made me popped more coins to try out Todoh, Kyosuke etc...which I felt was really a good game strategy to attract more replays.
But nooooo everyone just wants shotos, fireballs, fan favourites...*sigh*

Rock was in an obscure game(MotW, while revered as one of the best fighters ever, didn't get nearly enough exposure as KOF did), and Athena and Haohmaru were two of the first newly announced characters, not to mention they were already popular.

There are plenty of fan faves that play differently from the usual shoto/fireball style character that could've/should've made the cut in CvS, but didn't. I just want them to get their chance at this dream match this time around.
After all, this was/is a concept many fans never believed to be possible...now that it's a reality, why not go for a roster comprised of the characters many fans dreamed of going head-to-head with?
Capcom can pull the "surprise" method for their series. But for this game, uh-uh. I don't care how predictable or unsurprising the roster may be, I want my K', Andy, Robert, Leona, etc. It's their time now.

I prefer a character a little more weak than other AND (not but, and) funny to play than ûberstrong, unchallenging and boring Sagat-Gôki crap. If we ever see Blanka again, I hope he will be severely toned down so I can play him again.

You're thinking "character" when Capcom thinks "fighting style". Robert or Andy are more popular than Yun and Maki, but more traditional in their fighting style. That's why Chunli was changed like that instead of that stupid charge shoto-ish boring thing she had become. if you want a shoto, you have already more than one character on 4 in CvS2 with hado-shoryu. Do we need more? Should Dimitri be in the sequel they will never do in place of Anhel, for example?
If characters are more important than fighting style, the card game on NGP has nearly everyone. But in a fighting game, I don't want a to play a shotofestival.
And what is "shoto" anyways? eh? eh?

I couldn't agree more with this. I want my K' Andy, Alex (There was NO REASON for him not being in CvS2), Robert, Leona, Billy Kane, etc. I think it's time for them to get out of the background.
As for Shoto's. Well, I don't care much for them, but it's not my fault that they became popular. You just have to have your Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Sakura, Ryo, Robert type of cast with moves like them too. Everyone has them now anyway. I don't really want "Shotopalooza" but if it has to happen to have the favorites in the game then so be it. In Capcom's games they can do whatever they want, but in SvC I don't think SNK/Playmore can make this game a dissapointment, and that means with characters too. This game is very anticipated and I think to deliver the hype they have to add the favorites whether they play like Shoto's or not.
