quote: Damn! a anime adaptation.... Why can't they keep good manga as they as, paper series. IMO all cool mangas I read turn in crap when animated.
Well Araki did it with the Jojo serie without an animated series (except those Oav) Why can't the other do the same, Rave, Getbackers, and now Naruto, well just hope Goda Gun won't turn in too.
I understand your fears, but sometimes the adaptation is great, like Kenshin (until the end of the Shishio saga). Other good examples are Saint Seiya and Ranma 1/2.
Of course, the anime not being done by Toei gives more hope, because the tho crap anime adaptations, like Dragon Ball (crappy, crappy series, unlike the manga) and Detective Conan, for example. I haven't seen YuYuHakusho, but I suspect that the quality downfall will be similar.

Wow! I'm surprised that so many people feel this way about anime adaptations. I'm a pretty big manga purist, myself...so in most cases, I don't end up watching much anime...I just read the manga. Naruto looks like it has a good start at least...I mean, the characters look right...unlike recent jump anime adaptations like Hikaru no Go, Shaman King and (especially) One Piece, where they can't even get the colors/character designs right. Usually the anime just seems to suck the life out of the original work. They don't make up for interesting art/effects with anything. There are bad colors, mediocre animation and bad direction. Bad music, sometimes, too. In many cases, I don't get enjoyment from seeing the work in motion as much as I become irritated to see it ruined. I'm afraid for Naruto, because there aren't so many chapters of it out. That means that the anime will either be VERY slow, or have lots of filler. If it does well, and the manga can't keep up, we'll get SEASONS of filler. That's a nightmare, especially in a story like Naruto that's so well structured and paced. Gahhh...but I just can't complain enough about Trigun. It just wasn't suited to be a TV series...more like an OVA. They screwed so much up, and I have to correct so many people when I talk about the story. Oh well, at least it was directed well, I guess.
