Well, unlike CvS, there wasn't any character that was entirely redone, like Ryu, Ken, Gouki and Vega (Bison), but a number of sprites of some characters were changed:
-Chun-Li, although being basically her SF3 incarnation, had many new sprites, for example the , or her Also, her was redone, I think. -Yun. He is SF3 Yun, but for example, his , and the last hit of the youhou were redone.
Of course, many of the dodges were new animations, and also many roll recoveries.
That's all I can recall now.

Well yeah, if by "redone" you mean "redrawn to look more like her old sprite".
I liked Chun-Li's new moves that went with her SF3 sprite, and lots of them were replaced with her old moves. I'd be happy to see the old Chun-Li go away forever and be replaced entirely with her SF3 version, but it seems that some players just have to have her old moves...

I think he is talking about her normals, as well as her air animations. CvS2 is not a redraw of any of her incarnations, but a combination of all of them, with some new or modified moves.
CvS2 Chun Li moves (note: I consider her Alpha moves to be modifications of her SF2 moves with some excpetions that do not apply here): s. jab - SF2 s. strong - SF2 modified s. fierce - SF3 s. short - close SF3, away SF2 modified s. forward - SF2 modified s. roundhouse - close new, away SF3 df + roundhouse - SF2 c. jab - SF3 c. strong - SF3 c. fierce - new c. short - SF3 c. forward - SF2 c. roundhouse - SF2 j. jab - SF3 j. strong - SF3 j. fierce - SF3 j. short - SF2 j. forward - SF2 j. d + forward - SF2 j. roundhouse - SF2 modified, upwards SF3 punch grab - SF2 kick grab - new standing pose - SF3 crouching pose - SF3 getting hit animation - SF3 falling animation - SF2 lying pose - SF3 block damage KO - new time out lose - new jump animation - SF2/3 mix, upwards SF3 taunt - Alpha win poses - modifed SFA, SF3
Now that doesn't even mean that her SF2 or SF3 moves keep their properties from the games they come from. For example, her s. fierce is nothing compared with her SF3 s. fierce, and her c. strong cannot be cancelled into a super in SF3.
Personally, if I were to consider animation as the main point, I think her SF3 incarnation is the that looks the best, but anatomically speaking, I like her CvS2 incarnation better. I don't mind her legs in SF3 (unlike others), but I think she just looks better in CvS2.
As of overall style, it is a tie between SF3 and CvS2. Her SF2/Alpha style now look kind of stiff to me.

Great breakdown of where CvS2 Chun-Li pulls her animation from. In addition her sidestep is new and while I think her run and roll animation [where she pulls off the neat trick of spinning around on her butt] are new as well I would have to check CvS1 to make sure.

I agree, her 3rd strike ver. was the best in looks and play. I would like her to have all of her 3rd strike moves if Capcom ever makes another CvS.

Have Terry and Mai EVER had an intro together in any game. I just figure that all the characters from Fatal Fury should, at least Mai and Terry since Andy and her are in some sort of relationship. Joe got an intro with her in CvS2 (which is funny) so why doesn't Terry? And do Terry and Joe have an intro together in CvS2? (I can't remember)

Terry SHOULD have a intro with Mai and Joe, but he doesn't. I really don't know why, it's like Terry is a complete stranger to Joe and Mai or something.

quote: Capcom did stupid sht between a lot of characters that have nothing to do with eachother (ie, Iori and Vega -- WTF!! what is this, the battle of the "glowing purple power" or what? if anyone wants me to list more, i've got one ready here), but nothing against characters that deserve one, like what you mentioned
It's not that far of a stretch, actually. Bison seems to like stealing power for his pshyco drive, so he'd probably be tempted by the Orochi power of Iori...
And besides, it is a dream match game so alot of the matches are coming out of thin air. I don't really mind, though, as they add character to the game...

oh ok. here's the intros i think don't make any sense. some may disagree to the degree of how pointless these are (O_O hehe, i don't think that made any sense), but here goes
Maki vs Yamazaki - same with the Chun-Li thing, i guess. thug vs person who beats up thugs (hehe, sorry, dunno Maki's story too well) Hibiki vs Rolento - this is one of my favorites. i think it looks awesome, but uhhh, i guess the relationship is they both carry weapons or something Todoh vs Maki - i guess they did this just to show both Todoh's and Maki's personality Eagle vs Zangief - the battle of the spinning moves? Eagle vs Chang & Choi - "no time for losers?" they're losers, i suppose Rugal vs Guile - this one sorta makes sense. i hear Rugal had a statue of Guile in his gallery. maybe it's because i'm SICK of seeing this every time i fight my friend (Hagen de Merak on this board). it drives me insane. damn statue-smashing fest
i guess i'm bitter 'cause i'd like to see intros between some of the guys who i think deserve one. here's a few off the top of my head. i'll try not to list any that were already mentioned in this thread
Ryu vs Terry - i think they deserve one. more than Ryu vs Kyo Vega vs Guile - "CHARLIE!!!" uh, "NASH!!" anyways, i can see Guile getting his revenge for that Vega vs Chun-Li - Chun-Li still does something but only because he's an "evil" character. he killed her father! Sakura vs Ryu - isn't Ryu one of the main reasons why she's in a fighting tournament? Iori vs Vice - ya, they don't do anything in kof either, but it'd be cool if they did in a crossover game Geese vs Yamazaki - i guess they don't have one since (according to the CvS2 "storyline") they don't figure out that Yamazaki has his own intentions until the end of the tournament Geese vs Ryo - guess where Geese's Deadly Rave came from. also, i think Geese would be a little pissed after getting his ass beat in the Art of Fighting storyline Todoh vs Ryo - it'd just be nice to see this one

I also heard that Rugal had an Akuma statue in KOF'94. I don't know if that's true, but that's was I was told.
As for the intros that should have happened, I agree with you 100%. At least have the Guile vs. Vega/Bison intro! It made NO kind of sense not to have it.
Terry vs. Ryu....yes this SHOULD have happened. I would have made this the first pre-fight intro I had made if I was doing this game.
I think Geese should have had an intro with most of the main characters on the SNK side. Kyo, Terry, Ryo, Iori, Mai, Rock, Joe, Rugal, etc. Because EVERYONE knows Geese Howard. Well, maybe except for Haohmaru, Nakoruru and Hibiki.

Ha, what was that intro all about anyway? Robert giving Kensou tips to get the chix or something?
They both speak a certain dialect. Kansai, I believe... it's an accent from Osaka correct? This is the reason these two have an intro

Yes, this is true. Check Puar's Galactica Phantom site for images.
EDIT: at least it looks like Akuma... I misread thinking you had said Guile... agh, I need rest...>_<
I went and checked it out and I saw a Akuma, Guile, Ryu, and Zangief statue behind Rugal. It was pretty cool!
