I used the utopia boot disk to load a legit copy of ntsc street fighter 3 so....
Sho'nuff can. I used it to play CvS2 before I went out and bought a real DC-X boot disc thing. The only thing is that it doesn't work on VGA boxes and stuff so if you wanna see an import game on VGA it won't work because of the boot disc. Other than that it's cool.

80% of my DC games are legit imports and I use a US DC. So without a shadow of a doubt...yes. The only real flaw with the Utopia boot is that it doesn't work on VGA boxes but I believe it works with a VGA cable.

Probably because it's not official? I don't really know.

Utopia won't work on all legit imports, the only one I know of is SF3 3rd strike. A gameshark will work on that, and VGA too. You can find a demo version on the web...SOMEWHERE.

Supposedly, the cool logo isn't compatible with VGA displays and/or Utopia forgot/neglected to include VGA support. There are supposedly a couple of ways around this (at least for playing bootlegs that require the Utopia Boot Disc, I don't know if they'll work for imports):
1) Download the Utopia Boot Disc image and the Utopia VGA Patch. Apply the patch to the image and burn. OR 2) Buy the Treamcast VGA Adaptor. (This is a hard to find accessory, made in Asia, I think). It has a switch that allows you to use the Utopia Boot Disc in VGA Mode.
Anyway, I don't use the Utopia Boot Disc to play imports. I use the Action Replay CDX Demo Disc and it seems to work a lot better (it's compatible with more imports and it has VGA support)
