As I mentioned earlier, on 7/1 Sega unveiled its plans for Sakura Taisen series, and it's more than what we all expected.
Earlier, leaks of the sequel came out... but who would have expected this?

*** Sakura Taisen: Atsuki Chishioni ***

Despite what we expected, this is a REMAKE of the first game. It follows the introduction of the series, and fight with the Kuronosukai. They remade the game, with newer game system from 3 and 4.
This game will be the first PS2 Sakura Taisen. I guess they are releasing this to introduce the PS users with the series.
***Sakura Taisen 5: saraba itoshiki hito yo***
[Sakura Taisen 5: Farewell my love]
This is for PS2. This one is a true sequel, and will contiue the story from 4. At this point, whether or not Oogami will be the protagonist or not is unknown.
This time, the story will be taking place in Newyork, with the Newyork kagekidan that was mentioned in the Sakura Taisen: the movie.
***Sakura Taisen 5: Action (tentative title)***
Appearantly an action game with side stories of characters in 5. Not much details is known.
***Sakura Taisen monogatari: Teito hen/Paris hen***

novel format adventure game featuring characters from the previous series. again, not much details are known.
***KOUMA (tentative title)***
Kouma were the alien-esque monters in the first two games. This series will focus on the event that lead to creation of the Teikoku kagekidan.. the Kouma Wars!
Which means we get to see Ayame, Yoneda, Yamazaki (Aoi Satan), and Singuuji (Sakura's father) when they were younger! COOL......
I always wondered how powerful they must have been to fight Kouma without the Koubu.
***Sakurahime nishiki emaki (tentative title)***
appearantly an alternative story taking place in feudal Japan. Centuries before the events in Sakura Taisen series. However, it does mention something about "Expansion of time and space" for the plot, so ties with the current series may pop up here and there... hmm...
***Sakura Taisen 3 PC version***
well, not much to say here. PC version of the Sakura Taisen 3. Chinese version in production also.
So, there you have it.
Because of the way 4 ended, I kinda hope that 5 features a diffrent main character, so he can explore romance with the chicks in Newyork without having worry about obligations and crap. hehe :)

Oh, forgot to mention important thing...
The reason why this project is called World Project is because they are planning to release the series world wide.
This includes Europe and US.
So English speaking Sakura fans, rejoyce. :)
Btw, other than the PC Sakura Taisen 3, they are all slated for PS2.
Hiroi Ouji says Sakura Taisen 5's time period in Newyork is time period of Al Capone, Charlston, Jazz, Broadway. Sounds like material usable for Sakura Taisen, especially the Jazz and Broadway part :)
Also, as I expected... The main character of 5 will NOT BE Oogami. There are 5 new characters in Newyork Kagekidan, and details on any of the characters are unknown at this point.
However, Akahori Satoru did say that the scripts for all 5 characters are already almost finished.
As for the Sakura Taisen 1 remake (in hot blood), there will be 11 episodes as opposed to the original 10. Expect to see new episode built into the game.

The Hoshigumi were the original prototype group, of which Ratchet, Orihime and Leni were members. That's why their names are all somewhat astro-related (Altair, Orihime, Milchstrasse).
Of course, the Hanagumi names are all related to flowers, both Teito and Paris.

Okay, so they don't all work. I mean, how many girls names can possibly related to NewYork? Queens... Um... Brook-Lynn...

Oops. See, I haven't played ST1 or 2 yet. I had a tough decision in buying one ST game, and I decided on ST3 for some unknown reason. Now I'm all out of order and messed up, and I don't know which one to buy next, given that my budget will not tolerate buying all of them right now. As much as I love ST (even after only playing one game), there are many other games competing for my gaming doller, not to mention (gasp) non-game related expenses!
