Personally, I think 2ch is full of those guys. Especially those guys who use this word.
The World Cup board is horrible. About 70% of the posts are about complaints and hatred for Koreans. Most posts on that board are about how they hate koreans, want to kill them, they shouldn't exist, yada yada yada.
The board was supposed to be about soccer, but I guess that's too much to expect from 2ch. :(
As a fellow Japanese, I feel totally ashamed of how 2ch people act and post.
I just hope it's only reflections of few extremists and morons.
If you want to see the sickest crap posted, go to the Jinken board (human rights board).
You'll find many murderous statements asking for death to all Jews and Palastanians and Koreans.
That makes me mad. I don't know how people can hate a specific ethnic/regional group. I mean, I understand if you don't like one person cause they did something that bothered you or something, but to hate all the people of a certain nation, that is so stupid. Of course, the people posting that crap may not really feel that way, they may just be trying to start arguments and get people mad and stuff.

I wouldn't suggest you even bothering to learn those terms until you master Japanese itself. Even then, it takes awhile to learn what the terms mean and where they come from.
It seems that 2ch is hated all over, and I eally can't blame'em for doing so. But personally, I enjoy reading the conversations going on in those boards. The thing is with Japanese people is they have 2 sides to them: a public side and a private side. Unlike Americans (or other cultures), they tend to keep feelings and opinions to themselves. With anonymity, they are free to express their opinions, as stupid or hateful they may be. I am interested in that.
Then again, I tend to hang around the game and manga boards (and the news), where there isn't as much hate.
Still, I think that 2ch is becoming more and more part of normal society in Japan, whether people choose to accept it or not. I see 2ch terms being used now in many other websites, and take a look at .hack: it uses 2ch terms too. I just hope Japan finds a middle and becomes a bit more outwardly expressive.

2ch is the largest single BBS in Japan, located at 2ch.net.
It comprimises of many different categories, from cooking to gaming. There's some odd-end categories too, such as "Baldness and Hairpeice", "Internet ISP", "salary workers", and "dog lovers".
That almost makes it sound like it's a Yahoo! BBS, but there's a few major differences. First and foremost, it's totally anonymous. He wasn't taken seriously...Read somewhere that somebody actually warned the FBI about the 9-11 incident but then again he wasn't taken seriously as well...Hmmmmmmm......
Yeah, I read the thread too.
Several hours before the 9/11 incident, this guy told the 2ch board to keep eye on TV, there's gonna be something interesting on it. And then when asked for hints, he said keywords are "airplane" and "building".
Around the same time, elsewhere on the board, someone warned a terroist attack coming soon.
Sure enough, hours later....
Scary shit, if you ask me.
BTW, if you hang out on the video game boards, you won't see as much racist and hateful comments, although you do occasionally see someone using deregotary term "chon", which is used for Koreans in the same way "nigga" is used for blacks.
The prejudice is more rampant in boards that deals with more international subjects, such as World cup, news, and middle-east situations.
