Ok, I was at the Capcom message boards (I need to stop that bad habit) and someone was complaining about the Resident Evil games going to GCN (I'm sick of complaints about this). Anyways, someone said something about the fact that since they were on the topic of games switching systems, he had heard that the Final Fantasy games were going to GCN and not gonna be on PS2 anymore. First of all, that's not true, Square is developing for Nintendo again, but they never said they weren't going to do Final Fantasy on PS2, or even that they were doing regular FF on GCN. Second of all, Final Fantasy left Nintendo first, so how can they complain about FF like that if it left Nintendo first? It's aggrivating. I bought a PSX so I could play my FF games, so they should just get a GCN if they want RE that badly. Sheesh, people like that get on my nerves.

Some people are morons, Wolf, just close your eyes take a deep breathe, count to 10 and walk away... it's really all you can do.
I really thinks it's funny when fanboys complain about a game that "started on one system" jumping to another... at GameFAQ I read someone saying something like "I don't think it's fair the DC isn't going to get a port of Soul Calibur 2, the series started on that system it shouldn't be the only one not to get the sequel"
and PSM, the so called "independant" Playstation Magazine likes to point how stupid companies are for not supporting only the PS2... they can claim to be "independant" all they want they're still Sony's lab dogs when the day is done...
verring further of topic, I also like how people thought it was logical for Megaman or Bomberman to be in Smash Brothers because "they got their start on Nintendo" (and adding in the Sonic in Smash Brothers logic that games to end up on a Nintendo system should be included that techincally means every character in the gaming world should be in Smash Brothers... it's like Captain N were they hit people!)
but yeah, if people want a game that's only one system instead of bitching about how it should be on their's they should bite the bullet and get said other system (I did! Now X-Box, PS2, and GCN live in harmony in my room!)

I think these guys forgot that Sony owns like half of Squares stock. I think it's around half maybe more, maybe less.

Yeah, idiotic devotion to companies is really stupid. I admit it can be annoying if a company decides to switch a franchise to another console in the middle of its life span. For instance with Shenmu, people bought a Dreamcast for it, only to have it moved to Xbox at zero hour. However with Resident Evil and Final Fantasy, the series were moved during a console transition period. Nothing is making people buy a PS2 and Capcom announced the switch with plenty of time for people to decide with Gamecube over Sony’s console. The same goes for FFVII. I can't believe there are still Nintendo fans so wrapped up in the company that they haven't played FFVII yet since they only buy Nintendo consoles AND complain about the fact that they were cheated out of Square. Ugh.
This is just reminiscent of the IGN pocket readers' letters section. Back when I used to read it, the NeoGeoPocket Color was still being sold in stores. Every letter section there was some idiot ranting about how much he hated the NGPC and how it should fail, etc. Whenever a letter pointed out that NGPC had some pretty good software, including of SNK and Capcom fighters, puzzlers and even a Sonic adventure, you could be assured that next week there would be an angry letter denouncing the system and pointing out that Nintendo would be releasing the Gameboy Advance which would but the NGPC to shame. I always had to think "No, duh. It's a next generation portable. It's like comparing the SNES and the Playstaion. And your slavish devotion to Nintendo is not getting you any closer to owning a GBA than anyone else. There is no special line at Babbages for GBC owners."
Kinda went off topic a bit, but I agree; people who whine about what companies do with their franchises are silly. Pathetic system loyalty is stupid too. I can't afford to buy all three systems, but I plan on at least renting a GC and RE; they never take more than 2 days to beat anyway.

It was sometime in 1999 (probably the summer) and I'd just returned a really chopped-down, inferior PSX Gauntlet Legends to Blockbuster Video. It was that this point that I became convinced that the PSX had outlived its usefulness, ultimately leading me to buy a Dreamcast. Every video store I knew of rented DC games, so I figured it had a bright future.
About two freaking years later (bear in mind that I had purchased about twelve games at this point, so my commitment was pretty strong), Neptune gets in a triage with the Big Dipper and Betelgeuse or whatever, which causes the Dreamcast to fail overnight. I was in a bit of a bind here, as I had no intention of paying $300 for yet another system.
Well, to make an incredibly long story kinda short, I was looking for Benami games. In particular, Pop 'n Music, which, as I've stated before, was one of the games that drew me to the DC in the first place. I waited for quite some time. There was NO DEVELOPMENT on this front at all. I was also looking for a new Dance Dance Revolution, since 2nd Mix and Club Mix were all that there were going to be for DC. The only other system that had these was PSX...which I'd already written off, and especially in the case of DDR since their games cost the same as DC's.
Well, as it turned out, there would be no 3rd Mix, 4th Mix, or 5th Mix for PS2. Ever. So I finally broke down and got them for the system I'd left for dead.
Later, we got a PS2 (someone else in my family bought it). I had qualms like you wouldn't believe about this system before, but eventually, the selection improved enough so that someone who wasn't an absolute sports fanatic could conceivably get some use out of it.
I've played almost a dozen games now, and I absolutely love this system.
Not long afterward, I got Pop 'n Music 5 for PSX. And it's great. I got the original NFL Blitz, too (before the gazillions of features that sucked all the life out of the franchise) for a bargain.
Still have that Dreamcast. Still going to be playing it for many years to come.
Bottom line, yeah, it sucks when a hit game is only available for one system. But these systems need selling points, and, let's face it, console gaming is going to cost you big no matter what. There's nothing wrong with buying a new system...and you get a whole library of wonderful games other than the one or two you originally got it for.
That said, never really cared for sci-fi bloodfests, so won't be playing Resident Evil in any case.

Arrrg! That gets on my nerves too. It's really really annoying. Personally I'm a big fan of FF myself. That was actually the only reason I bought my Playstation. It so happened that later I found that there were OTHER interesting things out there. (That's right.. I've only been a gamer since Playstation.. so sue me. Though I still do have my Nintendo, the original.) I do know that FF was first put on Nintendo. So.. if that's the case... if you want to argue it.. then they'd just be RETURNING!
But it's true.. all that nonsense talk of systems. You'd think they were foreign<sp> nations or something. There really isn't a 'betrayal' sort of deal here. They're getting money, surviving... so we can still get the games.. yadda yadda. Chances are that no matter what system they game is on.. you're sitll going to get the system, play the game.. and love it. o_O So just shut up and leave it be.
Though some people refuse to buy machines over ordeals like this. That's just plain silly. -_-;
The only thing I can argue against is that the new machines themselves can get a ploy to get your money. Afterall... prices go up and up and it's not that much more expensive to make the games and machines. But that has little to do with what game's on what machine. tsk tsk...
