"KMFDM -- Better Than the Best" , posted Wed 12 Jun 05:44:post reply

well, i'm back from the KMFDM concert (in Houston, TX)! i went with one other friend. i knew someone wanted me to post about it afterwards, so here i am i came home maybe 90 minutes ago, at about 3:00AM (EDIT: 3 hours later, i'm still writing this review, hehe). if you don't care much for the concert i just attended or KMFDM's performance, scroll down to the arrows and at least read that part

(btw, for those of you who don't know, "Juke Joint Jezebel," my nick, is a KMFDM song. you can imagine how much i love this band)

anyways, anyways, details, details ....
um, i really don't know what to say about the concert itself except i had so much fun. it kicked major ass; it was like a dream come true

the two opening bands weren't as bad as i expected. haha, i honestly thought they'd be boo'd off the stage, seeing as how the opening bands usually suck bad. also, one of them -- not sure which, although i'm pretty certain it was the "second" band -- was booed off in another city. but the crowd seemed to love them. Houston is the City of Love <3 (also the fattest city in America and one of the most polluted, but nevertheless the City of Love <3)

the first band, kidneythieves, i ended up liking a lot. their sound was similar to Drill's (Lucia, who's in the new KMFDM, was the lead female vocal of Drill. actually, i'm pretty sure she was Drill. my sis went to Drill's concert a long time ago and has their cd, so she'd know more about it than me). i thought the lead female vocal was great

as for the second band .. ugh, i dunno, man. 16VOLT, they were ok, i guess. they sounded like Fear Factory, whom i like a bit, but all of their [16VOLT] songs were so damn repetitious. it's like you heard the beginning of their song, and you already know what the whole song sounds like. to make matters worse, their songs all sounded the same (to me, at least)! it was just a deafening lullaby. i caught myself falling asleep a couple of times while they were playing. the crowd seemed to really love 16VOLT's heavy music, but still a few jeers came out

now for the main course, KMFDM -- my friend told me that before they come out (he read this off of a site. most likely kmfdmdogma), they'd play classical music. and god was he right! when i heard the classical music playing, a big grin got on my face. the crowd was booing and yelling out "WTF" and similar jeers, but screw them, i thought it was a cool way to enter

to my surprise, a huge chunk of the crowd LOVED Raymond Watts (the heart and soul of Pig. he does vocals and also played the guitar during the concert, although he knows how to play other instruments. he's a very talented guy). i was surprised they [the crowd] even knew who he was every time i mention Pig to ANYBODY, they think i'm talking about some country music band or about the farm animal or something else odd. anyways, the crowd was yelling out his name when he came out and they just went wild with everything he did -- he's a huge crowd-pleaser, letting people touch him, splashing people with water, throwing people water bottles, and even throwing his cowboy hat into the audience! btw, he loves that cowboy stuff. he almost always has a hat and you can see him trying to purchase some "pointy boots" in the KMFDM Beat by Beat by Beat video

Sascha was still good 'ol Sascha. there was rumor that he'd come out with a HUGE mohawk but he cut it a bit shorter some time before coming to Houston. it was still cool. i thought he performed damn awesome. he didn't sing as much as i expected him to (also to my surprise, Watts did a LOT of the vocals), but nevertheless played a good performance. he's also a pretty funny guy. someone threw a wig onto the stage so he rested it on a mic until the end of the concert (when he threw it back). i think i have pictures of the wig, hehehehe

Lucia was -- god, she's so .. so .. so ... hot, especially in person. she's sexy and she knows it. she was so sultry with that lusty look she always gives and god ... how she moved her body to the music throughout the whole concert .... i .. couldn't .. stop .. looking .. at .. her .... .... anyways, um .... ok. great, i forgot what i was talking about now ¬_¬ ah, Lucia! she sung beautifully as usual. i love her voice. she's so awesome

the other three guys, i'm sorry i don't know them too well -_- two of them were on guitar and the other was on drums. everyone just did fking grand, with those three guys included, you have no idea

although there was rumor that Skold would make a small appearance, he was a no-show -_- good chance he's out touring with Marilyn Manson. oh well. i think Watts took his place, singing, in his songs

as for the stuff they played .. they (of course) played stuff from their new Attak album (although they didn't play "Superhero" ), they did a lot of their old stuff ("D.I.Y." and "Ultra" are two that i remember), one MDFMK song (i think "Now" was the song), and some Pig songs ("Find it, Fuck it, Forget it" and "The Only Good One's a Dead One" were two of them). i remember a lot of songs from Nihil (as Raymond Watts was a part of KMFDM when they did the Nihil album). at the end, they did one or two encores, which was great. they sadly didn't play KMFDM "Sucks," even though the audience was chanting it

after the concert, we each bought a Pig shirt and waited outside to hopefully meet some of the band members. we were especially waiting for Sascha, Watts, and Lucia. while waiting, i saw an old friend of mine. i'm surprised he noticed me. i was wearing a cowboy hat and had shades on and i haven't seen him in years. he was given the job to hand out KMFDM stickers to guests, but he just blew it off and gave me the rest he had ^_^ so i ran to my car to hide the stickers, dump our shirts, and leave my cowboy hat (it was drenched in sweat). then the waiting for KMFDM began again

after about an hour of waiting, we saw Sascha outside! i was so excited to see him offstage, i almost took a picture of him right there for the hell of it. he signed a KMFDM sticker for each of us, then we took a picture with him ^_^ we talked to him a bit and i thanked him for coming to Houston. then he shook both of our hands! i was so incredibly amazed at how friendly he was, as most people on the internet think he's an asshole

anyways, after getting Sascha's autograph and picture (which i'll post later. i'm gonna get the film developed in a few hours -- nope i haven't slept yet, hehehe), my friend spotted Lucia!!! i couldn't believe it was her. she was so friendly, laughing and signing autographs, and taking pictures with people, and hugging and talking to everybody. god, i was so nervous around her. while she was up there on stage, singing, i was just lusting at her and just absorbing her beautiful voice. then when she was around us, i didn't know what to say. it was like meeting a real live Athena (for those of you who don't know, Athena's my most favorite SNK character) -- a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice and endless talent. she was about to go in the bus (she had been out there, talking to people for a while. she was even worried about one of the audience members, some guy who was probably drunk, because he whacked his head HARD while trying to bodysurf) when she started shaking everyone's hands. she shook my hand and i think i screamed out "CAN I TAKE A PICTURE WITH YOU?!!" (lol, i got nervous and panicked) so she smiled, said "sure!" then she grabbed my neck. my friend wanted to be in the picture too so she grabbed ahold of his neck and we got a picture with her ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ohhhhhhhhhh, i hope it comes out ^_^ when the picture was done, i was gonna talk to her so much. i had so much confidence around Sascha. i even planned things out to say to Lucia .. but i froze. i was even gonna ask her for an autograph .. but i froze -_- hehe, but it's all right. my friend panicked too. the only thing he asked her was "so when's Ray coming out?" we're just a bunch of saps -_-

god, i can't believe how friendly KMFDM is. they're TOO friendly! christ! they absolutely know how to keep their devout fans happy. well, as for Raymond Watts (my hero, in a sense), we never got to meet him everyone, including Lucia, had no idea where he was. there were rumors that he was eating at a nearby restaurant or sleeping in the bus or something. it was my theory that he fell asleep in the men's room floor, hehehe. he was tired, i'm sure. we could tell he was drunk during the concert because he stumbled onto stage when he first came out, hehe. he also did some crazy stuff during the concert, like put the mic down his pants while they were playing "Spit Sperm" (argh, i should've taken a picture. it was hillarious), throw his cowboy hat into the crowd, curse and talk to the audience incoherently inbetween songs, among many other things

afterwards, we went home, still amazed that we got to see Sascha and Lucia up close. i know i said this before, but the whole event was just a dream come true. the concert was so awesome, despite some people. for instance, they tried to create a mosh pit nearby -_- a couple of times, some guys tried to ram into the guy next to me but i kept my balance. they would've all fallen like dominos if i hadn't resisted each time -_- i don't know about you guys, but for bands i really love, i don't care much for mosh pits. i just wanted to enjoy the music. as for the body surfing, if any came my way, i was gonna send the body back, but sadly no one body surfed my way i was really looking forward to that. and that's about all i can think of

it's now 8:00AM, i smell like smoke and ass, my ears are still ringing, my entire body is sore (see my DDR thread), and i'm never washing my neck or right hand again, as they were both touched by the lovely Lucia (refers back to an old Simpsons episode) <3

and that was my view of the KMFDM concert. if anyone has any further questions about anything, just go ahead and ask and i'll do my best to answer

(oh yeah, one more fyi. KMFDM stands for "Kein Mehreit Für Die Mitleid," which loosely translates into "no pity for the majority." and for the last time, it does not mean "Kill Muthafk'n Depeche Mode" ¬_¬)

yea, i was the one who asked how it went.

i've heard of kidneytheives before...think i saw them open for either local h or...somebody...bleh...they were alright, had cooler stickers than anything else. this was years ago though.

you didn't like the mosh pit? boo, you stink. heh, but seriously, as long as ya had fun, so be it.

i've never had the luck of meeting band members offstage or anything. i'm still pretty deadset on bumping into scott lucas of local h somewhere, but that's about it for me. best i get is some cheesy coverband that's only a hit because they played u2 songs in a crowd full of european people....

heh, the mosh pit just isn't for me. when i was younger, i LOVED ramming into other people for no good reason. mainly because i got them when they were off their guard, and they usually flew after i hit them. i didn't even mind much when they moshed back into me. but after a while, i grew out of it

hm, i forgot to mention this earlier but, i really really really really really wish i had kept my cowboy hat on for the pictures (either that, or ran back to my car to get it). i would've asked Lucia if she could've put it on for the picture with us. i was even thinking about it at the time, after the picture was taken. i just now remembered it as i'm looking at my tag. argh, she was extremely nice. i'm pretty sure she would've maybe next time

cool! just stick with it if you ever go to that guy's concert. with us, i really didn't think we'd meet them back there, but my friend wanted to stay so i stuck around too. i know they're just people like you and me but it was just surreal to see them in person when they weren't performing

and oh my god i haven't slept yet. wait, i already used that for the message title
