The guy with light blonde hair with the tubes coming out of his suit is the main character. In the game his body is so badly damaged that Jehuty (the humanoid mech) is performing all his vital functions, so basically he's unable to leave the frame.
In movie form, the game looked awesome. The opening music from ZOE was used or possibly remixed, but it sounded amazing. Gameplay footage showed the player being able to lock onto dozens of small enemies at a time, grab an enemy and move with him or charge for a powerful throw, rip a piece of steel off of a building to use as a shield and throw at enemies. The stages seemed to be more open in general but for one where Jehuty and another mech were fighting while zooming down a tight corridor, I'm sure there are more enemy types as well.
The control in the first game was excellent, although the game design itself was so weak. ZOE2 shows a lot of promise though, and they're using anime rather than CG this time.
I forgot to mention this right after E3 guys, sorry. I'm really looking forward to it though.

thanks for the link, Juan! and thanks for the info, Mosquiton! i cannot wait for ZOE2!! when ZOE first came out, i was one of the first to get it. for some reason, i was so hyped up about it (it was around the time i was excited about Neon Genesis Evangelion so when i saw the graphics of ZOE and heard about how good its controls were, naturally it got me all giddy)
i can't believe i forgot about the game when E3 came around. so glad you posted some info about it Mosquiton. i heard (this is just what i heard) that in ZOE2, they'll have more time to think about a versus system 'cause in ZOE they just added it at the last second. that'll be cool. YEAAAAA i cannot wait! must visit Konami's site right away
oh yea, i heard they were gonna do an anime about ZOE or something like that. i wonder what the progress of that is
Zone of the Enders (first one) spoiler
Spoiler (Highlight to view) - (the following is a hypothetical question. don't answer it if you know the answer. i don't want any spoilers >_<) i wonder who that redheaded woman is in that wallpaper. if it's who i think it is, i thought she died. maybe she survived or they resurrected her or something. she's even got the earrings. hm
End of Spoiler
