From Anime News Service (http
Based on the 1983 arcade title, the Xevious anime feature runs 75 minutes and is due from August 3rdalso running at Ikebukuro in DLP format. Purodyusa and Naco will team on production, Takano Yutaka willdesign characters, Masaharu Ogawa is on Mecha design.
Personal Note: So its an Anime right now. I hope the original musical fanfare is in there...
And from Dark Horizons (http.gif) The House of the Dead: Director Uwe Bowell talked juicy technical details about this zombie flick to JoBlo.Com and it sounds pretty darn good. The most complex visual effect is "a Matrix-like set-up with over 300 cameras for a fighting scene", whilst gore will be very apparent - "We have over 15 exploding heads, people are cut in half or fighting headless. We basically show what "Resident Evil" didn’t show". The film is aiming for a wide release, though what about the rating? "R-rated- but the DVD will be the Director's Cut in NC-17 or X-format". Expect it out early-mid 2003. Thanks to 'BG'.
Good to hear the folks making the HotD movie have their heart in the right place, which, considering it's a zombie film, is to have it and various other bodily organs splattered all over the screen. But while I know that trailer is a super-preliminary teaser I'm already worried about the film. The clip features people hopping about on what appears to be hidden trampolines, a girl kicking a guy in a rubbery looking zombie suit in the head, and -a bit that's almost obligatory in movies nowadays- a shot where everybody dives in unison away from a tunnel that's exploding behind them. According to IMDB the film is about "A group of teens arrive on an island for a rave--only to discover the island has been taken over by zombies" and the biggest name actor is Clint Howard. Perhaps they will be able to pull off a good zombie flick out of this but something tells me that HotD fans aren't going to be sleeping outside the theater for tickets like Star Wars fanatics do.
