One: What the heck is the new "Metalish" emblem system? What does it do? What's the point of the medals? Is it a form of powerup?
Two: How many paths are there? In level 1, I found one (underground, Monkey mode). Level 2 doesn't seem to have any. Level 3, maybe if I quickly jump off the snow ledge before it crumbles...I'm still searching for more. Can anyone tell?

I can't answer you for certain, I've not played 4 yet. but metal slug for ngpc had a system wherin medals leveled you up, giving you a larger life bar. I don't know if it's a similar system here, but that's how it's been used in the past...

Sensational item for people who desire to gain high points. Taking the item called (Metalish System) on the right, you can get some bonus points while you are playing in a certain period of time. Lasting time is different from each item's color and also the bonus scores are as well.
How to Use
Take emblems (new item) and metalish gage is marked. Gage decreasing, Speed is changed as the color of the emblems.
Emblem (Green) - 30 second Emblem (White) - 15 second Emblem (Blue) - 10 second Emblem (Red) - 8 second

In short, the ULTRA SUPER DUPER EXTRAVANGAZA EXCITING Metalish Emblem System does...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, except give Bonus points.
