Pfft, if they even dare try to stop it from coming here, I'm gonna go personally put dead geckos in their socks while they sleep! Yeah!

After all, every Working Designs game is a good game! (and they all "go to 11"!)

Actually... If you ever have seen/played that PS2 Goemon game, you wouldn't question Sony's decision to not allow it (as much, at least).
That game was a such poor excuse for the Goemon license. I can see people taking WD's side if all they wanted was to see a yet another generic platformer featuring more "hip" & older looking (not to mention more proportional) Goemon to be released over here...
Trust me, if it was more like the traditional Goemon game we all came to love, I'd be upset as well, but that game simply wasn't any good.
Personally, I think both Konami & Working Designs should've spent their efforts elsewhere making (& translating) better/more worthy games.

I'll never understand why Sony stops games like Goemon and Soul Hackers from being translated but has no qualms about the endless sea of shit like the Army Men franchise gracing their systems.

desicions for "quality control" purposes.

This isn't the first time I've heard of this. I remember the Capcom and Mega Man having the same problem...

Goemon on SNES was class (all of them). The N64 game was good too but what the PHUCK happened to the ps2 game? All I've read is how cack it is. How could they kill such a great series? Konami have gone downhill since the SNES, trust

I'll just import it, anyway, even if it lacks the charm of the classic Goemon games... But this is stupid of Sony. Oh, and Lifty, I agree with you about Konami... they used to be so much better. Where is my sequel to Snatcher? :(

Buh, too bad, thanks for the info anyway, dorikyasu, so I don't put hopes on the game.

And the GBA version is sucky too, it seems.

"Snatcher fan project for DC?" , posted Tue 4 Jun 15:25:post reply

Now that you mention Snatcher there was a group of dreamcast programmers that wanted to do an unofficial remake of snatcher for the DC. I'll see if i can find the page for the project again, hopefully they didnt can it.

Links of interest :

http://www.boob.co.uk/docs/interviews/Turrican2k.html

http://turrican2k.sourceforge.net/ (supposedly he organized the project)

But i doubt we'll ever see an snatcher sequel from KONAMI anytime soon, there's too many bemani games in the queue :)

IIRC there was a sequal to Snatcher, called Policenaughts. It was on the 3DO though, so it's probably not that well known.

I'd like to see an upgraded version of this game, though, on any system.

I give major props to Capcom for having the cajones to force Sony to bring the Megaman games over. But than it's easy to take that stance when you have Resdient Evil 2 waiting in the wings to gain leverage...^^

Actually... Policenauts wasn't exactly a sequel to Snatcher, as far as storyline & characters goes. Although they were both produced by Hideo Kojima & can be categorized under same genre (graphic adventure?). ;)
And Policenauts was originally released for PC-9821 (Japanese PC), then enhanced ports were released later for 3DO, Saturn, and Playstation respectively in Japan.

Sony did reject Konami's attempt to bring Policenauts to US PSX for unknown reason. Now, that's something I'm still upset about unlike Goemon situation up there... But it's still nothing when compared to the fact Konami had to cancel near-completed (rumored to be 75% translated) US Saturn version of Policenauts due to Sega of America's moronic decision.

To this day, I feel sorry for those who haven't fully experienced Policenauts due to such circumstances. It's a real shame too. Considering that Policenauts was such a masterpiece...

Still, I've heard of other games being denied.

Black Matrix, Atlier Marie among some of the good ones to be denied. I even heard a rumor that GGX was originally denied...

Well, you can have a little Policenauts in America...

In MGS, there's a poster of Policenauts, in the first Ninja fight. Then, when Otacon is talking about Japan being the first country in developing bipedal robots, some anime video starts, that's Policenauts! I think Kojima wanted to show us Policenauts one way or another...

yeah, let's not forget good ol Sega of America around the time of the Saturn, who let a whole bunch of good software sit over in Japan. In fact it was why Working Designs moved over to the PSX, cause they just got tired of dealing with them...

Hard to believe, but Castlevania was rumored to be on the Sony of America's rejection list too. But luckily it came over...

"Sega isnt the bad guy here, not exactly" , posted Wed 5 Jun 14:21post reply

The reason Sega didn't bring over games to the US like Radiant Silvergun and others was that the Saturn was practically dead by the time of its release. In fact, if you notice, a lot of Saturn games released in the US at that time didn't get a lot of circulation (such as Burning Rangers, House of the Dead, etc). I can see why Sega was also reluctant to release other games here in the US, like Sakura Taisen (which was probably thought to be too Japanese for the American market base). And I think Sega did a good job keeping bad games off the system. There is a far greater proportion of bad games on the PS and PS2 than there is with the Saturn.

Now, look at Sony, who only cared if the games were 3D and looked pretty for the most part. Also, they wanted to avoid games with themes that are too "kiddie" and old looking. *shrug* Have you noticed that there arent a lot of cutsie-kiddie styled games on the PS2? Remember, Sony would rather worry about console image than bringing good quality games to the US.

Also, you can't necessarily blame the console makers for this kind of import censorship. Konami released Salamander Deluxe Pack and Gradius Deluxe Pack on the PSX and Saturn in Japan, yet none arrived here. Companies sometimes have something to do with it.

Back to Sony, does anyone remember Sony's policy about games that had versions on other consoles? I may be wrong, but I believe Sony once had a rule is that if there was a PSX version and another console version of a game, then the PSX version had to have something that the other versions didn't. Is that rule still in effect?
