Ah, Nifty Lifty asked me about ghostly encounters, so I'll just start a new thread about it :)
Well, one experience I had was about a month ago when I was trying to sleep on the sofa at my apartment around 3:00am.
There were sliding doors at the foot of the sofa with a good view of trees, so I could stare at them swaying around. Then I spotted something whitish in the distance among the trees, floating slowly towards me, and when it got closer I saw that it was a floating head of a Malay woman with long hair and closed eyes with a blank expression on its face.
It was floating closer and was already above the balcony, so I got up, pushed it out of the apartment and shut the sliding doors.
After that I woke up the other tenants, and they couldn't sleep for the rest of the night ^_^
I've forgotten what the ghost is called, but it's quite a common Malaysian ghost; it's a floating head of a person which goes flying around at night, and one way to really mess around with it it to locate the head's body and either place a cloth over its headless neck, turn the body so that it's on it's belly, or just hide its body(!) so that the head can't join back to the body and die at dawn :)
A really really bad version of the floating head is called the Si Lo Ban, or SLB for short. This one is another female floating head, but with entrails dripping with blood hanging down from it's neck. IIRC, this one feeds on newborn babies and is supposed to be ultra scary :P

You physically pushed it out? Weird. So this is an actual mythological sort of ghost? Even weirder. Here's some supernatural stuff I've encountered: One night a few friends (Claire, Louise, Andy and Dwayne) and me stayed the night in this place called Dunwick Manor in Lancashire. The place has a long history of rich families living there, but most unusually, of residents commiting suicide. At first I geniuenly thought these may just be fictional stories made up to scare people, and that if I was ever going to see a ghost, this place would be too obvious. My friend Claire brought a video camera with a little screen so you can see what you've just filmed. It was getting late, about 11, and it was pitch black outside. We were all sat around in the downstairs room, which had big glass windows exposing most of the room to the darkness outside. We had the light above us on so we could see each other. Claire was filming my other friend Louise as she recited a little dialogue she had just written (did I mention we were writing a play at the time), then straight away she played it back and we gathered around the camera to watch. I couldn't really see but then I just heared Louise shout "WHAT THE FUCK?" We played it back and there was clearly a tranparent, pale blue hooded figure stood behind Louise in the film. It was truly freaky. We looked around the room, and we couldn't see anyone else but us. We laughed it off a bit and said how priveledged we were to have seen a ghost, but a little later on something happened that shit us up to the max. The light above us switched off, leaving us in darkness. This was not the work of any of us because the light switch was up the stairs. Guess who was nominated to find his way up and turn it on? Yes, me. I kept my guard up and carefully felt my way around. Eventually finding the switch, I flicked it back on, restoring the light. Immedietly I heared, dwayne shout "SHIT, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?" and Claire scream. I jumped the whole flight of stairs and what I saw almost gave me a heart-attack. Everybody was huddled in the middle of the room, away from the big black windows that surrounded us. There were hands groping the glass and featureless faces staring in. They all looked blue and transparent, and I could hear their heavy breathing. Louise managed to say "talk to them" in a shaky voice. I, being the fall guy, decided to speak up in my most assertive voice. I said; "Who are you lot? What do you want?" There must of been about twenty of them in total. All of a sudden they stopped groping the windows and just looked in. I could still hear their heavy breathing. I actually felt very sad looking at them. After a few seconds they just disappeared.
That was definetly the scariest supernatural thing that I've encountered, but not the only one. I have seen ghosts in my own house a few times. And not only me, but my mum too. It happened about six months ago - our house became haunted for about three weeks and we all saw, heared and felt (yes, physically felt) weird shit. The only time I actually saw the ghost was in the mirror, man that shit me up. Even the cat acted really edgy for those few weeks. Then that was it - after a while the house wasn't haunted anymore. We all felt the tension ease suddenly towards the end and that was the end of it.

ehhhh? you people have really been through some awesome stuff. i'd really like to see something as weird and freaky as that one day, especially that freak house that Nifty Lifty was in! even though i'd probably panic and end up trying to "fight" or attack the ghost(s) or something else stupid, but it'd still be great to see one day. something else to add to my "must do before i die" list
as for me, the thing i've been through (also, i warn you is gonna be the most boring story in this thread) is seeing random lights appear and disappear in the forest. back at my grandma's place in the philippines, there's hundreds of thousands of surrounding trees, especially in her "backyard," which is just a HUGE stretch of land that she owns. anyways, late at night, if you watch the trees long enough, a faint light will appear. after some time, it'll either grow stronger or disappear. i've seen these lights a couple of times. some disappear quickly, others appear and stay there for minutes. at first, i thought it was just people travelling through the forest or people's yard lights but that land's private property -- belongs to my grandma. nothing's really out there but miles of trees ('cause i've travelled there a bunch of times during the day). i asked my mom about it and she told me it's [ehh, it's some word in visayan that i already forgot] and that they're lights that appear at night to lure people to their death
i've heard this legend somewhere. in the game Magic: the Gathering, there's a card called "will-o-wisp" or something similar that they created from it
anyways, yep, that's it. i didn't chase the lights or anything. i have no friends back in the philippine islands, and the few that i do have would've been too scared to come with me and explore. if something like that happened where i live, i'd gather my buds up and we'd go ghost-hunting ^_^ but ah, until then, my life's as boring as the next person's. keep submitting stories, people supernatural stuff's peaked my interest since Juan submitted that ghost painting thing

Ok, this is the closest supernatural thing that happened to me. First of, lemme explain about "La llorona" (the screamer, or something along those lines). In the times of the ancient México, in the times of the aztechs to be precise, there was a legend of a girl in white screaming "Ay mis hijos" (Ohh my sons) or "Ay mis hijos, ¿a donde los llevare?" (Oh my sons, where am I going to take you?)... Some people say that this girl predicted the spaniard conquest, some other say that this girl was "La Malinche", who was in penance for betraying their people...
Anyway, now that you know La llorona background, lemme explain my story: It happened when I was a young boy, I don't remember my age exactly, but I was still a child. I lived pretty near the beach, but that particular night I went to sleep at the house of my uncles. They had public bathrooms for the tourists, and that night, me and my cousins awoke for some loud noise... We ran to the bathrooms to see what happened, and we saw our uncle grabbing someone inside the bathroom, screaming at her to go out... At first I thought it was some drunken, but then, I heard a pretty good strong scream, and the only lamp that lightened the area, exploded... My uncled ran to where we were, and when my aunt brought a lamp, the girl wasn't in there... The only way to go out there was passing through us...
After that my uncle said it was la llorona... I never found out if it was true or not, but one thing is clear, someone was inside the bathroom, and it dissapeared ...

Hey, I know I carry holy water in my coat. No, really. Of course, it's mostly because the church was selling little plastic bottles of holy water and I thought it would be amusing to buy one.
Something I haven't remembered for years, until I was reading this thread, was probably all in my mind. However, it was still pretty wierd. Basically, after going to bed at night, I would at some point feel as if I was floating. Then, suddenly, it would feel as if I'd fallen and crashed onto my bed. However, when I'd open my eyes, I couldn't find any evidence I'd been out of my bed. It was most likely my imagination, but I still wonder what would cause me to imagine such a thing every night.

^___^ I've had the same experience many, many times (at least 5) the first time I can remember it happening I ran out of my room and told my mom... she said it was perfectly normal, just the body reacting to a dream... was she sheilding my young mind from something more that was going on? who knows? point is, it's pretty damn odd to wake up from a huge fall unmoved on your bed...
